• That’s it. We set off to Milngavie on 22nd Sept 2010

• 14 of us visited Tesco and had a tour with Graeme and Mark.

• 4 of us went to Hynde travel agents and Thomas Cook

• We walked to Bearsden station in the pouring rain and then caught

the train to Milngavie.

Soaked but happy !!!!!!

The travel agents.

We went in to the travel agency and we looked at all the brochures , they were all on shelves.

We met Iain who answered all our questions about a travel agent.

We had to ask questions and listen to the answers. We made notes. How did you become a travel agent? My dad owned the business. What skills do you use?The skills that I learnt at school.I need to read, use a computer, a calculator for adding and have nice manners. Not all the phone calls are nice there was one phone call that Mark had to tell the customer he couldn’t go on holiday because of a French air traffic strike.

By Sophie and Morgan McD

We found out that …They have to read codes eg. GL:A means GlasgowBB Bed and breakfastHow to use a calculator and find the total cost of a holiday. He had to read big numbersIain uses a special website with codes to book a holiday. He needs a calendar to find out days and dates.

We asked Iain what skills a travel agent must have.He said“always have good manners”Thinking skills to solve problems.Good maths Be able to read information from the computer and travel brochures.Good listening to other people.Declan and Robert

Thank you Iain

What was going on in Tesco ????

We were tasting food.We were looking in the back of the shop .We were finding Spanish foods. We went into the 210C refrigerator because all the food like milk, fish , meat has to be kept very cold.“ It was freezing cold” NathanWe saw people baking, slicing , cooking, sorting food out, stacking shelves, check out people, buyers .500 people work at TescoWe got to scan stuffNathan and David

We met Michael and Mark who showed us around the shop.

The Bakery

We saw A big machine that makes the dough and puts it into big circles. It was making bread rolls. There was a big oven which fires the bread and then they put seeds on.A lady making the dough.Lots of baskets that they put the bread into. The baker in his uniform and he gave us all hats to wear because we didn’t want to put germs in the bread.Holly and Su -A

The deliveriesAt the back of the shop there is a big door which opens There is a lift, which a man who has been trained stands on .The lift moves up and the truck rolls back .There are 9 big containers with all the food and the man has to go back and get it all. The food is then sorted in the shop and the cold food put in the big fridge.Molly and Ye Jin
