Field Trips

Proposal: To organize field trips for B. Tech C.S. Oil and Gas

Informatics branch (1styear, 2ndyear and 3rdyear).

As we all know that students from this branch have not only

been active participants in most of the SPE events but also we

have generated quite a large number of members from this

branch, but they have not been a part of any of the field trips

organized previously by the UPES SPE chapter.

The negligence on our part has lead to a decline in the

membership graph as the number of members formed in the

1st year was way more than those who reregistered in the 2nd

year.

Field trips will not only provide an on field exposure for the

students but also will lure more students to be a part of the SPE

UPES chapter.

Why Geopic ?

Geopic is responsible for processing & interpretation

of geophysical data for oil exploration activities of

ONGC. The course curriculum as designed for B. Tech

C.S. Oil and Gas Informatics includes subjects

concerned with data mining, data processing and also

developing software that will facilitate such processes

to reach a higher level of automation. So a field trip to

Geopic would help the students cultivate practicalknowledge in this field to a great extent.

Why Institute Of Drilling Technology (IDT)?

The institute carries out applied research in all facets of drilling

related activities to achieve technical excellence in R&D efforts

and assimilation of emerging technologies.

The students will not only have the opportunity to understand

the work flow of the processes being carried out during the

drilling operations but also they will have an insight on the

various emerging technologies ruling over the present market.

Why ONGC Museum?

In the first year course curriculum for the respective branch

there is no subject concerned with the introduction to the oil

and gas domain. So a visit to the museum provides the students

with a brief overview of their domain activities which will be of

a great help in the near future when they are made familiar to

the various oil and gas domain related subjects in the upcoming

semester.
