APPROACH
We ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard.
Methodology
EKCON has a pro-active approach to project execution. The continued involvement of a partner is maintained throughout all phases of a project, from the first briefing to the final handover, providing a most efficient, direct and prompt service. Technical staff is brought into a project from inception and remains on the project throughout the project duration.
Philosophy
The partners do not stereotype a project, but investigate all possible alternatives applying theoretical knowledge and expertise in an innovative manner. All design considerations are taken into account from the outset to ensure accurate cost control and estimates. For all projects, large or small, the firm’s policy is to communicate on a personal level and provide an advisory service relating to every project even after completion.

| Hons B Eng (Civil) | Graduated in 1978 at the University of Stellenbosch. He is a member of the South African Association for Consulting Engineers and specialises in structural design with emphasis on reinforced and post-tensioned concrete.
| Pr Eng Hons B Eng, MSc(CAL) | Graduated in 1978 at the University of Stellenbosch and obtained a Masters degree from the University of California (Berkley) in 1983. He specialises in structural design with emphasis on reinforced and post-tensioned concrete.
| Pr Tech Eng (NHD Civil Engineering) | Obtained his diploma at the Cape Technikon in 1988. He specialises in structural design with emphasis on reinforced and post-tensioned concrete.
| Pr Eng (Msc Eng) | Alex Meyer is a qualified mechanical engineer with a Masters’ degree in engineering. He received his B.Eng (Mech) degree in 2002. He was nominated for the ‘Best Final Year Project’ in which the development of a device whereby the smoke opacity exiting the exhaust of a vehicle could be measured, was designed.
| B Eng (Civil) | He obtained a B Eng degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch in 2005. In 2006 he started working as a junior site engineer for a large construction firm where he gained invaluable site experience before he joined EKCON in 2007.
| Pr Tech Eng (B Tech, Civil) | Obtained his B-Tech degree at the Cape Technikon in 1999. He specialised in the design of civil engineering services and roads for infrastructure projects and building related projects.
| Pr Tech Eng, B Tech (Civil) | Wasief Casper obtained his Btech Degree (Civil) at the Cape Technikon in 2000. His work focuses on the design of civil infrastructure and roads project.
| B Eng, Hons B.B&A | Obtained his degree in 1989 at the University of Stellenbosch. He specialises in mechanical building services.
| Pr Eng (Hons B Eng) | Obtained his degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 1979. He specialises in structural design with emphasis on structural steel design.
The directors play an active role in the day to day activities and the firsthand production of designs and documentation of projects. They are personally committed to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard.

Industrial and ProductionDesign and execution of multi-disciplinary industrial projects, including textile, electronic, chemical, food and general factories, wine cellars and recreational facilities. This includes conceptual planning, architectural and engineering design, co-ordination, project and construction management as well as financial control.
Wet ServicesThis includes the design of internal plumbing and drainage systems for various buildings inclusive of shopping centres, hotels, residential complexes and office buildings. We have extensive expertise in the design of hot water generation plant to meet the criteria for energy efficient buildings.
Lifts and EscalatorsTraffic studies and performance specifications for lifts in a variety of building types to meet the architects designs. It also meets the building population requirements.
HVACEconomical energy efficient design of HVAC services for variety of buildings.
Rational Fire DesignOur extensive expertise in this field enables us to assist architects and building designers to produce safe, economical and practical buildings within their aesthetic requirements. Fire fighting services include design for all types of buildings including warehouses and distribution facilities.
