Mehregan

Mehregan has been an ancient Iranian festival celebrated for a thousand years, which relates to

friendship, affection and love. As an Iranian group, Nawranj Iranian Association is dedicated to

celebrating this time of the year to bring the festival back to life in the Iranian community. The Idea was

to create an event that gathers Iranian families and friends in Toronto together and remind them of this

time where friendships are renewed and families are visited.

This event had performances from known artists/performers such as:

Sasan Ghahreman for Naghali

Tara Aghdashlou and Siavash Shabanpour for Persian Poetry

Shahrokh Saeedi and Amir Manbachi for Music Performance

Ladan Lotfi for Persian Folklore Dance

This event attracted approximately 600 audiences. Admissions and refreshments were free of charge

and Iranian “Awsh” cuisine was served after the event. Furthermore, a fabulous table was designed for

Mehregan on that day that represented the season of harvest and thanksgiving. This table was put on

show for everyone to see in the middle of the venue.
