Why Fitness? Mental and physical health is a key benefit of regular physical activity. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain and create positive feelings and an energizing outlook. Research has shown that exercise is also an effective, but often underused treatment for depression and cronic illness. With all the benefits of fitness and physical activity provided by this event, supporting FitFest is a great opportunity for sponsors to showcase their commitment to the health and personal well-being of the community.

Why Canada? FitFest is positioned in an ideal market where Canadians value physical activity as shown in the following quote: Canada must invest in prevention to save money on health-care costs in the longer term. In 2012, Canada’s total health-care expenditure amounted to 10.93 per cent of Gross Domestic Product. Strategic investments in physical activity support Canadian families by helping them to sustain a higher quality of life, and support our economy by helping our country to sustain a more affordable, high-quality health-care system. Every dollar spent to promote healthy eating and physical activity saves $6 in the cost of caring for people with chronic diseases.
