The disease is treated by a formula which is consisted by a few of herbs, according to a theoretic principle of TCM. It contains 113 formulae which some of them have still been used in the clinic now.

    Perspective to human body:

Qi (Vital energy) and Meridians:Qi, or Vital energy should be fully filled and move

smooth in the meridians which there are 12 regular and 2 extra-ordinary ones, leaking organs respectively to form another system throughout whole body.

Qi should be substance and functional in our body.

Qi will be proved by modern science:------dispersing structure and bio-electric magnetic

    wave.

    Upright Qi and Pathogenic factors:

There are two aspects to cause a disease in TCM:

Upright Qi, or Real Qi is the resistant power to the disease in our body. So said:

“If existence of Upright Qi inside of your body is strongenough; no any pathogenic factor is able to invade in.” but,

“If you have been invaded by a pathogenic factor, you mustbe having some deficiency of your Qi.”

Pathogenic factors(邪氣):External one: ------Wind, Cold, Summon heat,

Dampness, Dry & Heat Internal one: ------ Abnormal emotion, diet,

    genetic state etc.

The disease occurs or not, according to which stronger in Upright Qi and Pathogenic factors.

Diagnostic style of TCM----differentiation of syndromes (辯證論治):

Four diagnostic methods: which are looking, smelling, asking and palpating are used to collect information from the patient.

The practitioner of TCM will make a diagnostic syndrome of this patient which should be involved his/her diseased position, nature, balance conditions of Upright Qi and pathogenic factor; Qi and blood, Yin and Yang; then will make a treating principle and relevant therapies, following this diagnostic syndrome.

    Herbal medicine and Acupuncture:

Herbal medicine:there are thousands kinds of herbal medicines in TCM which are used in various forms:

    1) Dry herbs should be prescribed into a formula with a few of herbs to the particular condition of an individual person, according to his /her syndrome, which is diagnosed by TCM practitioner. You need to boil them to be a juice to take.

    2) Concentrated herbal powders are also prescribed like dry herbs, but you only need to mix your powder with some boiled water to take.

    3) Patent herbs: they may be pill, capsule, tablet, tincture or external forms, like lotion, cream and so on which is made from an experienced formula in a modern technical. So, Chinese herbal medicines should be more strong effect and less side-effect in general.

    2) Evaluating and regulating the Pre-clinic conditions(亞健康):

TCM (Herbal medicine and Acupuncture) is the best therapyto regulate the Pre-clinic condition.

Pre-clinic condition means that some clinical symptoms manifest out, but are not qualified enough to diagnose a disease in conventional medicine. More and more people start to concern their health in this stage now.

Most of pre-clinical conditions are able to treat, and be easily cured. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are suitable to be selected, due to their characteristics of functional regulation and natural materials.

    3) Treating diseases:

When you have really suffered from a disease, you will also able to elect TCM, but you should know TCM’s position in whole approach of your treating plan.

You should know advantages, characteristic, even disadvantage of TCM to your diseases.

If you have these diseases, or clinical conditions as below, you should look for a practitioner of TCM:1) A chronic disease, or clinical condition:Such as: post

infective, allergic diseases; Eczema, ME, ChronicBronchitis, Asthma etc.

    2) A disease at the early stage, or gentle degree: such asHay fever, Sinus, IBS some of infertility etc.

    3) A disease which haven’t been diagnosed, or can’t begiven a proper treatment from CWM (Conventionalwestern medicine).

    Tuesday, 13 May 2008 Ming-Ai (London) Institute

  • 19

    4) A person suffers from many kinds of diseases, dysfunctions which has made a complex condition, evenover-reaction to the regular treatment from CWM.

    5) A person takes a mind which is priority to TCM.

We must be clear on this point that TCM has a limitedpower of its treatment; it can’t cure all ofdiseases.
