SUPPORTINGTHE ARTS Latino Business Expo has always stood strong by our belief in paying it forward. We help sup-port and promote many non-profits thoughout the year to help those in need. A percentage of Latino Business Expo revenue goes to support The Arts Collaborative to help promote commu-nity revitalization and cross cultural understanding through the arts.

The Arts Collaborative is an outgrowth of the Downtown Center for the Arts. The Downtown Center for the Arts was founded in 2006 by Armando Lopez.

The Downtown Center for the Arts exhibited the fine art and films of artists with a worldwide reputation. One example is the “Chicano Collection” by Cheech Marin which toured the United States. The Chicano Collection was in Oxnard from November 2006 through January 2007 at the Downtown Center for the Arts. The center, also, exhibited the works of Latino artists with national repu-tations like Frank Romero, Margaret Garcia, Gronk, John Valadez, Patssi Valdez, Wayne Alaniz Healy among others.

In 2007 the Downtown Center for the Arts established the Foreign Film Se-ries under the direction of George Sandoval.

In 2012 the Downtown Center for the Arts branched out to become the Ox-nard Film Society with George Sandoval as President & CEO. The Oxnard Film Society continues with their foreign film series.

In 2014 Armando Lopez founded The Arts Collaborative with the same mis-sion as the Downtown Center for the Arts. He serves as President & CEO. The Arts Collaborative is proud to be a sponsor of the Choral Tales Project, a project with worldwide significance.
