14.5. Barker College Visit – Sunday, 7 October.

On Sunday, 7 October, Barker College will be travelling to The Toowoomba Preparatory School as part of their sports tour and will be competing against Prep in cricket, basketball and tennis. Due to the competition being in the holidays, we have made considerations according to the distance some boys would need to travel to come in for the fixture. We have also listed substitutes that will come into the team if there are children that are unavailable. Just a reminder, if families can let the office know if you are available or not available to participate please. We have received confirmation to date from the students in bold.

Cricket: Sam Morris, Harry Agar, Oliver Hammond, Harry Cottle, Lachlan Grigg, Angus Jakins, Will Jakins, Tom Jakins, Charlie Struss, Isaac Brosnan, RolyBrosnan and David Hart. Substitute: Mitchell Adams.

Basketball: Flynn Halfpenny, Nicholas Wigan, Shay Morton, Bryn Rogers, Reilly Gall, Sam Grabbe, Mitchell Lovett, Fergus White, Fred Perrottet and Angus Wilshire.

Tennis: Harry King, Nicholas Rowan, Tom Coggan, Kelsey Neucom, Edward McDonnell and Hugh Green.

14.6. Churchie V Toowoomba Prep Tennis Tournament

A good day was had by all who travelled to the “big smoke” for our annual Tennis Competition at Churchie. Despite Churchie winning the competition on the day, there were many marathon sets that had every opportunity to be anyone’s game. Everyone enjoyed playing on Churchie’s new courts, and the clubhouse proved a treat for post-game celebrations. Thanks to Churchie for another great afternoon of sport.

14.7. Week 10 Sports Training

Our last week of school is almost upon us and there will be no sports training for Week 10 as we all prepare to tidy up Term 3 and hit the holidays. Training times for Term 4 will be in the Holiday edition of the Prep News.

14.8. Queensland Interschool Chess State Finals

Well done to Prep’s A division Chess team that has qualified to compete in the 2012 Queensland Interschool State Finals in Brisbane in October. Shay Morton, Gaurav Ramnanan, Noah Orford and Jack Wagner make up the team, and we wish them luck and will report on their successes from the tournament.

14.9. Queensland Primary Schools Touch, CLEVELAND SHOWGROUNDS – REDLANDS, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th November

At this point we have listed three teams of boys and three teams of girls. Any child not on the list is welcome to train and we will be looking at the possibility of adding teams to the competition if required. The only limitation is seats on the bus, so if we have people travelling down to the event and back we can fit more children into the competition.

This will be the third year that Toowoomba Prep has attended the QPST. Each team is put into a Group or Pool. On the Saturday we play the preliminary rounds, 3 or 4 games. The past two years we have asked for early games, departing at 5:00 am, and have been back in Toowoomba by 2:30pm. Sunday is the knock out part of the tournament. When you lose on the Sunday you are out. They have a three tiered competition on the Sunday e.g. if you finish third in your pool you generally play all the other teams that finished third. Also there is a trophy, a shield and a plate final on the Sunday. The teams listed below are only for record purposes and are not necessarily the final team selections.
