BE A PARTOF SOMETHINGBIGGER

Page 2: Spring 2012 Program Guide

New England Patriots’ offensive lineman Matt Light received the 2011 Legends Award for his achievements both on and off the field at the Hockomock Area YMCA’s sixth annual Legends Ball held on November 15, 2011.

The proceeds from the Legends Ball benefit the Hockomock Area YMCA’s Integration Initiative, which was established in 2004 with a goal to provide children with special needs an opportunity to participate with their typically developing peers in all the programs, services, and activities offered at the Y. The program aims to improve social skills, build self-esteem, increase physical activity and independence, and to enhance mutual respect among people of all abilities. For the past six years Peter Brock has inspired dozens of New England Sports Legends to support this cause that provides vital opportunities for children with special needs and their families to feel included and not isolated. Thanks to our generous supporters, the event raised over $100,000 to support the program for the 2012 year!

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

YOUR GIFT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO ADULTS,JUST LIKE TRINI.

At the Y, I’m active physically, mentally, and socially. I have lost 130 pounds and have been able to maintain a healthy weight. Because of my physical limitations, I take aqua aerobics and aquacise classes faithfully each week. These classes have helped me gain the flexibility I need. I am also a grateful member of Live Y’ers – the Y’s 55 and older group which keeps me connected in my community.
