CSSC Terminology

• Pathway(s)• http://www.aacc.nche.edu/resources/aaccprograms/pathways/Pages/default.aspx• At HonCC we use this term to describe the five different phases that a student has during their academic journey: Prepare, Engage, Commit, Complete, and Thrive. The Campus Student Success Council is a representative body meant to discuss, design and implement an institution wide framework for student success based on clear and structured educational experiences that guide students from point of entry to completion.

• Meta Majors/Exploratory Majors• This is a term that is used to describe a set or cluster of courses students can take as they are preparing for transfer or exploration in a major. Here are three examples of this idea: (1) The Biological Sciences Concentration under our ASNS degree , (2) Create a cluster of classes within Social Sciences so a student can explore within the larger context and decide what major they would like to declare when they transfer and finish their AA with us (3) Create a cluster of classes for students interested in Nursing so they can work on requirements while here at HonCC.
