December 2016 NEWSLETTER

It’s the last week before break, and all through the school,All students dream of time off-- sleeping in will be cool!

And as I reflect back now on the memories so far,I want each of you to know how special you are;

So as I get nestled all snug in my bed,All these great memories start to dance in my head;

Because every Spring Mountain kid and every staff member,Are wrapping up 2016 as a year to remember.

Our first week of school there arose such a clatter,We rushed to the gym to see what was the matter.

Those Friday Hawk Happenings taking place in the afternoon…And poor Mr. Long- he still can’t dance…or carry a tune!

Our Hawk-A-Thon so successful, it needed confetti!While kids passed me in the gym laughing, “Mr. Long you’re too sweaty!”

You’ve earned many Hawk Blocks- in pairs and in bunches,And I love wearing my chef’s hat and serving you lunches.

This month’s speeding along, just like a roller coaster,Some of us will star in our own READing poster!

What a special year at Spring Mountain-- yes, that’s no lie!Which makes it hard to give 2016 a final good-bye…

I taunted our canned food drive, and should’ve had more sense…Is 2017 another year you’ll choose my consequence?

We’re still counting the cans, and I should’ve known better!Will I get covered in ice cream, or wear an ugly sweater?

You may see a ballot soon that’s similar to this note…That you can turn back in this January to cast your vote!

I’ll never doubt you again since you’ve never misled…But I’d look good in a tutu, a wedding dress…or with another shaved head!

Why do I love seeing you at school? That list could go on for miles…I love how hard you all try, and I love all your smiles!So here comes 2017, and I couldn’t be more proud…

To know you’ll meet goals as I say them out loud:

“Now, Reading! Now, Writing! And for some a Smarter Balanced test! And Math! And now Science! Oh, please do your best!

To the top of the charts, that’s where we are going,Listen to your teachers-- your knowledge is growing!”

For the next two weeks, we’ll be in all different places…And Spring Mountain adults will miss your smiling faces!

With the break almost here, and all the memories we’ve had,There’s still one guy in the Office who gets a little sad,

But I’ll do my best to keep a smile raising my cheeks,Because I’ll see you all again in just a couple of weeks.So I’ll end this letter now, and make this declaration…“I’m so proud of you all, and to all a great vacation!”

handed out in class, unless all students are included. It creates hurt feelings and can throw a classroom into turmoil for days.

Notes from the Nurse

If you haven’t ready done so, please take the time to get your student’s immunizations up-to-date. The annual state immunization report is due to the Clackamas County Health Department in January. This means that students not current with their immunizations and those with a previous religious exemption that has not been converted to a non-medical exemption will be excluded from school on February 15, 2017 until their immunizations are brought up-to-date. For a detailed listing of immunizations and non-medical exemption instructions, please check the district website (Departments, Nurses, Vaccination Requirements). For immunization clinic information, please call the Clackamas County Health Department at 503-655-8471 or your health care provider’s office.

Share time, not the flu virus with your family

With the winter season upon us, families and friends often gather in close quarters. All of this can lead to more exposure to germs. So how do you stay flu free?

The best protection against the flu is to get a flu shot. But there are other ways to keep you and your family healthy this winter season. Follow these simple steps to stop the spread of germs:

● Wash your hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub. ● Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread this way. ● Try to avoid close contact with people who are ill. ● Practice good health habits. Get plenty of sleep and exercise, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids

and eat healthy. ● Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue away after use.

If your child does get the flu, please remember that students must be 24 hours free of fevers above 100.5° without the use of fever-reducing medications before returning to school and all related activities.

How do I get a flu shot? Many drug stores, the Clackamas County Health Department and your doctor’s office provide the vaccination.

Dear Family,

At our school we teach children important skills for getting along with others and doing well in school. It also helps our school be a safe and supportive place where everyone can learn. To help make our school even more safe and supportive, we are using the Second Step Child Protection Unit. We will begin lessons in some classrooms in the next two weeks, and others as the year goes on. In these lessons, students will learn three types of skills:

• Personal Safety. Students will learn important safety rules, such as safety with fire, sharp tools, and guns, and when riding on wheels or in cars. They will also learn ways to help them decide if something is safe or not. Older students will practice strategies to avoid peer pressure in unsafe situations.

• Touching Safety. Students will learn about safe, unsafe, and unwanted touches, and rules about touching private body parts. They’ll also learn to say no to unsafe or unwanted touches, and to tell an adult if someone breaks rules about touching private body parts.

• Assertiveness. These lessons will also give students a chance to practice asking an adult for help, telling an adult about an unsafe situation, and being assertive to get out of unsafe situations.

Điều này cũng giúp trường học của chúng tôi là nơi an toàn và nhiều hỗ trợ cho sự học. Để cho nhà trường được an toàn và nhiều sự hỗ trợ hơn chúng tôi dùng Đơn Vị Bảo Vệ Trẻ Em Bước Thứ Nhì. Chúng tôi sẽ bắt đầu dạy những bài học này trong lớp con em quý vị vào hai tuần tới. Trong những bài học này, học sinh sẽ học ba loại kỹ năng:

• An Toàn Cá Nhân. Học sinh sẽ học những quy luật quan trọng về sự an toàn, chẳng hạn như an toàn với lửa, dụng cụ sắc bén và súng và an toàn khi cỡi xe hay ngồi trong xe hơi. Các học sinh cũng sẽ học cách quyết định điều gì an toàn hay không. Những học sinh lớn tuổi hơn sẽ thực hành những phương pháp tránh những áp lực từ bạn bè trong những trường hợp không an toàn.

• Đụng Chạm An Toàn. Học sinh sẽ học về những sự đụng chạm an toàn, không an toàn và không muốn xảy ra và những quy luật về đụng chạm tới phần riêng tư trên thân thể. • Sự Quyết Tâm. Những bài học này sẽ cho học sinh cơ hội thực tập cách lên tiếng nhờ người lớn giúp đỡ, nói cho người lớn biết về trường hợp không an toàn và quyết tâm ra khỏi tình trạng bất an toàn.

En nuestra escuela les enseñamos a los niños habilidades importantes para llevarse bien con otros y que les vaya bien en la escuela. También ayuda a nuestra escuela a ser un lugar seguro y de apoyo donde todos pueden aprender. Para ayudar a que nuestra escuela sea aún más segura y de apoyo, estamos utilizando la Unidad de Segundo Paso de Protección al Niño. Comenzaremos las clases en el salón de su hijo en las próximas dos semanas. En estas lecciones, los estudiantes aprenderán tres tipos de habilidades:

• Seguridad personal. Los estudiantes aprenderán reglas de seguridad importantes, como la seguridad contra el fuego, herramientas filosas y armas y al montar en ruedas o en automóvil. También aprenderán maneras de ayudarles a decidir si algo es seguro o no. Estudiantes mayores pondrán en práctica estrategias para evitar la presión de los compañeros en situaciones peligrosas.

• Toques apropiados. Los estudiantes aprenderán acerca de toques seguros, inseguros y no deseados y las reglas sobre tocar las partes privadas del cuerpo. Head%lice%happen,%especially%on%kids.%They%are%not%a%sign%of%poor%hygiene%or%how%clean%your%home%is.%Anyone%can%get%them—doesn’t%matter%how%long%your%hair%is%or%how%much%you%shower.%

Does%your%kid%have%head%lice?%Not%everyone%gets%itchy.%Use%a%nit%comb%on%wet%hair%and%look%for%bugs%the%size%of%a%sesame%seed%or%tiny%eggs%glued%to%the%hair.%Make%it%a%weekly&routine&to&check&everyone&in&your&household.%%

ALL TREATMENT STEPS MUST BE DONE ON THE SAME DAY.

HOUSE TREATMENT:

1. Vacuum all carpets, floors, mattresses, furniture and the car. Dispose of the vacuum cleaner bag in the outside trash when finished.

2. Wash ALL clothing and bed linens in HOT water. 3. NON-WASHABLE items should be either: dry cleaned, placed in a HOT clothes dryer for

20 minutes (pillows, stuffed toys, etc.), placed in freezer for 48 hours, or sealed in a plastic bag for 14 days.

4. Treat ALL brushes and combs by boiling for 10 minutes OR soaking in lice shampoo for 10 minutes.

HAIR TREATMENT:

1. If using commercial lice hair products, treat all affected household members at the SAME TIME. Before application, wash hair with a basic perfume and conditioner free shampoo.

2. Comb hair thoroughly with a clean comb or brush. 3. Remove ALL NITS with a nit comb, fingernails, or tweezers to prevent REINFESTATION

by any nits not killed by the medications. 4. Notify all people who have recently been in contact with the exposed household member. 5. Contact your physician, health department, or school nurse for further directions

or advice.

SCHOOL NOTIFICATION:

PLEASE NOTIFY THE SCHOOL OFFICE IF YOU TREAT YOUR CHILD FOR HEAD LICE. This information is kept CONFIDENTIAL, but is important in tracking classroom cases to prevent further spread of head lice.

Con em quý vị có chí không? Không phải người nào cũng bị ngứa. Hãy xử dụng một chiếc lược có răng khít để chải tóc ướt và tìm kiếm những con chí nhỏ cỡ hạt mè hoặc trứng nhỏ dính ở tóc. Quý vị nên kiểm tra định kỳ hằng tuần cho mọi người trong gia đình.

Dưới đây là một số hướng dẫn hữu ích để điều trị chí:

TẤT CẢ NHỮNG GIAI ĐOẠN ĐIỀU TRỊ ĐỀU PHẢI THỰC HÀNH TRONG CÙNG NGÀY

TẨY SẠCH NHÀ:

1. Hút bụi tất cả thảm, sàn nhà, nệm giường, bàn ghế và xe. Bỏ bao chứa bụi của máy hút vào thùng rác bên ngoài sau khi xong.

2. Giặt TẤT CẢ quần áo và tấm trải giường bằng NƯỚC NÓNG. 3. Những đồ vật KHÔNG GIẶT ĐƯỢC nên: được tẩy khô, đặt trong máy xấy quần áo

NÓNG trong 20 phút (áo gối, đồ chơi thú dồn bông, v.v…), bỏ vô tủ đông lạnh trong 48 tiếng đồng hồ hay bỏ trong bao ni lông kín trong 14 ngày.

4. Tẩy sạch TẤT CẢ bàn chải tóc, lược bằng cách bỏ vào nước sôi trong 10 phút HAY nhúng vào xà bông trị chí trong 10 phút.

TẨY SẠCH TÓC:

1. Nếu dùng sản phẩm thương mại để trị chí, điều trị tất cả những người có chí trong nhà CÙNG MỘT LÚC. Trước khi áp dụng, gội đầu thật sạch bằng xà bông gội đầu có mùi thơm tiêu chuẩn và không có chất bảo vệ điều kiện của tóc.

2. Chải đầu thật kỹ bằng lược hay bàn chải tóc. 3. Tước TẤT CẢ TRỨNG CHÍ bằng lược dầy, móng tay hay cái nhíp để tránh không cho

TÁI SINH SẢN bằng trứng chí chưa bị thuốc trừ sạch. 4. Thông báo cho tất cả những người mới đây tiếp xúc với người có chí trong nhà. 5. Liên lạc với bác sĩ gia đình, phòng y tế hay y tá trong trường để được hướng dẫn hay cố

vấn thêm.

THÔNG BÁO CHO NHÀ TRƯỜNG:

XIN THÔNG BÁO CHO NHÀ TRƯỜNG BIẾT QUÝ VỊ ĐANG TRỊ CHÍ CHO CON EM. Thông tin này SẼ ĐƯỢC GIỮ KÍN, nhưng điều quan trọng là sẽ kiểm soát các trường hợp xảy ra trong lớp để ngăn không cho chí lây ra thêm.

CÁCH KIỂM SOÁT CHÍ CÁC GIAI ĐOẠN CHỮA TRỊ PHẢI THỰC HIỆN CÙNG NGÀY

1.

Khám xét đầu tóc mỗi người trong gia đình.

2.

Chữa trị TẤT CẢ mọi người trong gia đình CÙNG MỘT LÚC.

3.

Giặt và sấy TẤT CẢ chăn màn (tấm vải trải giường, mền, áo gối) bằng nước nóng.

4.

Bỏ áo gối, thú nhồi bông, gối ôm nhỏ, búp bê…vào máy sấy nóng trong vòng 20 phút.

5. Những vật dụng KHÔNG GIẶT ĐƯỢC hoặc là: 1) giặt sấy khô 2) để trong máy sấy nóng trong 20 phút 3) bỏ trong ngăn đông đá trong 48 giờ HAY 4) khoá kín trong bao ni lông trong 14 ngày

6.

Giặt và sấy TẤT CẢ nón, áo lạnh, áo len và những quần áo khác.

7.

Hút bụi tất cả ghế nệm da, gối ôm, giường nệm, ghế xe…

8.

Hút bụi cẩn thận tất cả thảm nhà và thảm lau chân.

9.

Bỏ TẤT CẢ lược và bàn chải tóc vào nước sôi trong 10 phút, HAY ngâm vào xà bông trị chí trong 10 phút.

10.

Dùng lược dầy hay móng tay tước TẤT CẢ TRỨNG CHÍ.

11.

Báo cho nhà trường biết ngày chữa trị và loại thuốc nào được dùng.

12.

Báo cho TẤT CẢ những người mới đâu có thể đã tiếp xúc với người có chi (láng diềng, bà con, bạn bè, nơi giữ trẻ, nhà thờ, nhóm bạn trẻ…)

13.

Lập lại việc chữa trị trong vòng 7-10 ngày.

14.

Khám xét đầu tóc mọi người trong gia đình MỖI NGÀY trong vòng hai tuần lễ.

Воспользовавшись частым гребешком, причесывайте мокрые волосы и ищите жучков размером в кунжутное семя или микроскопические яйца, прилипшие к волосяному стержню. Проводите подобную процедуру еженедельно, с целью проверки всех членов Вашей семьи.

Ниже приводятся полезные рекомендации для лечения головного педикулеза:
