1 Springboard Manual Communication Board The following pages of "boards" are screen shots taken from the Springboard, as of January 2004. These boards are used to make a manual communication board of the vocabulary from the Springboard. Print out the document and cut/assemble the boards as directed. Laminate the sections for durability. Laptray Manual Communication Board 1. Get a piece of study tag board and cut to match the dimensions of the laptray. 2. Cut out the Main Overlay of the Springboard and place on the right or left side of the tray with glue or Velcro. Position it based on the person's best access. 3. Cut out each of the Static Activity Rows along the outside solid line. Also cut out the unused tabs. Laminate each row. 4. Cut out each of the Dynamic Activity Rows along the outside solid line. Also cut out the used tabs. Laminate each row. 5. Cut out a piece of tagboard to match the size of the activity rows. Bind the Activity rows (e.g., spiral, comb), starting with the Static rows, followed by the Dynamic rows. Use the tagboard as a stable back piece for the activity rows. 6. Place the bound Activity rows above the Main Overlay and affix it. 7. The Pages of vocabulary are designed to flip Up/Down. If you want them to flip Left/Right, leave extra space on the appropriate side when you cut them apart. Cut apart the pages and laminate. 8. Bind the pages (e.g., spiral, comb) on the top or left/right. 9. Place the bound Pages parallel to the Main Overlay and affix it. Portable Manual Communication Board 1. Follow the directions for the Laptray system for cutting apart the sections of the board. 2. Bind together the Pages with the Main Overlay as the front page. 3. Attach the Activity Rows and Pages onto a single, smaller flat surface, such as a clip board. They can also be placed in a small ring binder with the Activity Rows attached to the inside cover of the binder.
