Jordyn, 5th grade

Jordyn enrolled in Spruce Hill/

CCA as a 3rd grader. “At my

other school,” Jordyn confides,

“we didn’t have reading classes.”

Our reading program posed a challenge for Jordyn

at first, but she found encouragement and support in

her teachers. “Ms. Gallagher would sit with me during

recess and help me with my homework. She helped

me discover my love for reading. You should see my

bookshelf at home—there are no empty spaces!” Jordyn

is now thriving in 5th grade and was recently honored

with an Academic Achievement award. n

period of chaos,” Monorear reveals. “For a long time I

didn’t have anyone to trust or talk to, but Spruce Hill/

CCA has been a shelter for me. Ms. Clemens cries with

me, laughs with me and shares with me. She reminds me

I am loved.” Monorear serves as a Student Ambassador,

helping to promote a culture of grace and respect in our

school community. n

“the city was kind of scary. Mr. Sinagra helped give

me courage.” With his new courage, Sophara loves

exploring the city and meeting new people. Our Faith

in Action program introduced him to a local church,

where he spent his summer tutor ing st ruggling

students and serving as a role model to younger

children. “I like to help people,” he says, “When I make

them smile, it’s rewarding for me.” n

attention we need to succeed.” Rachel has two brothers

and a sister enrolled with us, but she says, “Our whole

school is like a big family.” n

among the best magnet schools in the area. Our rigorous curriculum prepares

Our diverse electives allow students to explore their interests and discover

new talents. Students in our Art of Food elective learn culinary secrets from

professional chefs, while students in our Wilderness Survival elective learn

how to rough it in the wild on a weekend retreat. What are you interested in?
