Sri Bhagavan Nama Bodendral Medical Center
Govindapuram, India
Joint project by Sri Sandeepani Gurukula Trust India (SSGT)
and Global Organization for Divinity USA (G.O.D.)
In the path towards universal brotherhood, His Holiness
Maharanyam Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji says, “Just as how
food is essential for satisfying hunger, water for quenching thirst, air
for breathing, medicine for illness, rest for the body and sleep for the
mind, likewise the 'Hare Rama...' Mahamantra kirtan is essential
for peace of mind and Liberation.”
Attracted by his divine teachings and discourses, SSGT was
established in 1995 for the social and spiritual upliftment of
people.
In the USA, G.O.D was established in 2007 under the same
guiding principles.

The Madhurapuri Ashram is located in the rural town of Maharanyam
near Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. Many social activities are
undertaken in the Ashram and surrounding villages by SSGT.
There is a goshala to care for cows, anna danam food donations are given
to the needy, educational grants and donations are given to the
economically underprivileged, and free medical services and
consultations are conducted for the public via the Premika Varadan
Clinic instituted in the year 2000. Special health camps are conducted
periodically in and around 15 villages surrounding the ashram to aid the
poor and needy villagers.
For more than a decade, in addition to running free medical clinics,
SSGT has served poor communities with no access to medical facilities
through periodic medical fairs/camps.
Since 2009, G.O.D. has joined hands with SSGT on these projects and
has helped add more advanced screening/prevention tests that have
benefited thousands of people.
Types of Medical Camps Conducted
PURPOSE AND LOCATION: The need for important first-aid and
basic medical centers is increasing by the day. And in rural towns and
villages in India, it is rare to find the essential medical facilities that are
so easily available in cities.
With this essential need in mind, SSGT plans to establish the Sri
Bhagavan Nama Bodendral Medical Center in Govindapuram, a village
near Kumbakonam in interior Tamil Nadu.
WHY GOVINDAPURAM?: Govindapuram is an ancient, sacred
village on the banks of river Kaveri, in the heart of the southern Indian
state of Tamil Nadu. The little town resonates with the Divine Name, as
this is where the great saint and philosopher, Sri Bodendral, who
propagated the greatness of the Divine Name, attained jeeva samadhi.
Govindapuram is a small but growing town that caters to hundreds of
pilgrims on a daily basis, and is in dire need of proper medical
facilities.
SSGT wishes to contribute towards the establishment of a free
medical center to cater to the welfare of the pilgrims and residents,
who will benefit immensely from this initiative.
