CNS SGEJAC delegation calls on Finance Minister ‘Keep it free from politics’ Srinagar, Dec 14: Employees’ Joint Action Committee (EJAC) president and Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani today stressed the need for overhauling the school education department and keeping it free from politics as otherwise ‘the whole department will derail forever’ Criticizing the education minis- ter and his OSD for ‘victimizing’ the leaders and activists of the Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) only to ‘hide all misdeeds, failures and anti- teacher activities’, Qayoom Wani, in a statement today, said, “The last two years of the education department are a black period for it. The teachers and students were made to suffer during this period. “The education minister and his lieutenants are hell bent upon to weaken the JKTF but I want to tell them that JKTF is a movement and every teacher in the department is its well-wisher and nobody on earth can weaken or crush this movement. “The Minister and his agents always tried to disrespect teach- ing fraternity in the name of exam drama, screening test, transfer melas, super-fifty, tution ban, involvement of NGOs with nefari- ous designs, assigning chowkidari duty to teachers and inducting KAS officers as Joint Directors in the department to kill and disrespect the promotional chances of officers in the department,” Wani said. He said, “All these dramas proved total failure and both government and private education sectors suf- fered badly. The higher ups of the department are only working on the wrong policies.” “If the dictatorial attitude of min- isters and his lieutenants could not stop their anti teacher policies, the whole teaching community will hit the roads and responsibility shall lie on the shoulders of the government,” Wani said, appealing to the chief min- ister to look into these sensitive issues. Meanwhile, Wani asked the teach- ing community to be ready for any challenge and gear up their units to fight against the conspiracies. He said, “It is shame for the people at the helm of affairs that teachers under SSA, RMSA, NPS and other schemes are without salaries for last six months. Wani said, “The private staff of edu- cation minister are functioning like bosses and are humiliating the officers and lecturers in the department only for their petty interests and to weaken teachers moment.” Jammu, Dec 14: A deputation of State Government Employees Joint Action Committee (SGEJAC) called on Minister for Finance, Labour Employment and Culture, Dr Haseeb Drabu here today and sought implementation of seventh pay commission recommendations. While interacting with the deputation, Dr Drabu assured them that their genuine demands and grievances would be looked into and redressed accordingly.
