23rd, after Mass, to decorate the altar for Christmas.

ADVENT WREATH PRAYERS
Second Week– Purple Candle
Jesus, John the Baptist told the people, “If you
have two coats, give one to someone who
doesn’t have any. If you have food, share it with someone
else.” As we light this candle, we remember that you bring
the light of service into our lives. May your Word be al-
ways in our minds, on our lips, and in our hearts. Amen.
CHRISTMAS MASS SCHEDULE
December 24th, 7:00pm
December 25th, 9:30am
St. Vincent de Paul is having a chili/corn bread fund
raiser after Mass on December 16. Please join us in the
Gathering Space and help support the efforts of St.
Vincent de Paul. There are so many clients in need and it
is especially hard for them this time of year. Let’s make
their journey a little easier.
CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS
Ss Cosmas and Damian will again honor our lost but not
forgotten loved ones starting this week with our Poinsettia
Drive. You can contribute to the memory of a lost friend
or family member by purchasing a Poinsettia. Following
Christmas, you are welcome to take a Poinsettia home.
Questions, see or call Mary Hove, 360-889-0115.
STEWARDSHIP
Our parish is grateful to the many parishioners who
answered God’s call to serve others by returning their
Stewardship of Treasure/Talent Commitment flyers. For
those who are still discerning, it is not too late to make a
commitment. Many who serve in our parish have told us
that they receive far more than they give in personal
satisfaction and spiritual growth. We pray that you too
might be blessed with joy through the sharing of your
Treasure/Talents and that you return your Commitment
flyer to the parish office or in the collection basket.

ADVENT WREATH PRAYERS
Second Week– Purple
Jesus, John the Baptist told the

one to someone who doesn’t have
any. If you have food, share it with someone
else.” As we light this candle, we remember that
you bring the light of service into our lives.

ALTAR SOCIETY
All ladies of the parish are invited to
join us for our Christmas Party/
Potlucks.
The day group will meet on Thursday, December
13th, in the parish hall (Bldg. B) at 11:30am with
potluck lunch served at noon, followed by a very
brief meeting, and caroling.
The evening group will meet on Tuesday,
December 18th at 6:30pm with potluck dinner
followed by the meeting and caroling.
WELCOME TO OUR NEW CATECHETICAL CORNER!
Each week we will present a
topic or answer a question of
interest to our parishioners.
Advent has begun, and with it
we are in a new Liturgical Year. If you picked up
the Little Blue Book, you read about how we are
in a three-year cycle of readings for our Sunday
Masses. We have now begun Year C. Among
other things, that means we will hear a lot from
the Gospel according to St Luke this year. In the
Journeysongs book, you can read along each
week by turning to the number corresponding
with that Sunday. For example, today is the
2nd Sunday of Advent; you can find the readings
for today’s Mass at #863 (Second Sunday of
Advent – C). Next week’s Mass readings can be
found at #866, etc.
You will have noticed that Father is wearing
violet today, as he did last week. Violet, or
purple, is the color associated with the season of
Advent, a color of penitence and preparation as
we journey toward Christmas. Next week, look
for Father to be wearing the rose chasuble
(outermost vestment) since it is the halfway
mark in Advent and we focus on the joy that we
experience as we prepare for the birth of Our
Lord. May God richly bless you as we make room
in our hearts and in our homes for Jesus!
HONOR YOUR LOVED ONES
WITH A POINSETTIA
If you would like to purchase a
poinsettia to be placed on the
altar for Christmas ”in honor of” or
“in memory of” a loved one,
please pick up an envelope from one of the Altar
Society ladies after Mass the weekends of Dec.
08/09 and Dec. 15/16.
The poinsettias are $10 each and checks may be
made payable to: St. Andrew Altar Society.
Envelopes and donations must be returned no
later than Sunday December 16th.
