From The Desk of Msgr. Matthew Mitas: REMEMBER THAT AUGUST IS THE MONTH OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT!
COME CELEBRATE THE FEAST OF ST. LOUIS AT PIPER’S CHAPEL
Dr. & Mrs. Piper (Terry & Judy) have a beautiful chapel attached to their home in Cottleville, and in their
benevolence, they make it available to all the faithful of our Archdiocese. We have benefited from that kind-
ness in the past, and now the Piper’s are inviting us to their home once again to celebrate the big feast of our
Archdiocese, namely, the feast of our diocesan patron himself, St. Louis, on Tuesday evening, August 25. As in
the past, we will meet here at St. Angela and then carpool over to their place. And, as also in the past, we will
dine at the Madison Café, located a short distance from their home, after Mass. Their chapel is small, so (with
all the Wuhan Flu stipulations) we have to limit participation to the first 25 who sign up (on the reservation
sheet in the lunchroom). Since they are in St. Charles County, the mask requirements, etc. are more relaxed, so
be advised. The specific times are subject to change, but right now we’re planning on meeting here at 5:00PM
for a 6:00PM Mass at Piper’s and a 7:00 (or thereabouts) dinner at Madison’s.
HAVEN’T WE HAD ENOUGH?
Of the bad news, I mean. Our country needs prayers and needs them badly. I propose that not just we Cath-
olics, and not just we Catholics of North County, but we Catholics of St. Angela Merici Parish step up to the
plate and take this one on. I propose the following: A) DAILY MASS; I know that many of you can do this,
and I recommend that you do, B) DAILY ROSARY; I know that all of you can do that, C) participate more
and as often as you can in the great devotional life of the Catholic Church, viz., Eucharistic Adoration, Perpetu-
al Help Devotions, pilgrimages, retreats, spiritual reading, etc. I have it on good authority that if we do return to
prayer, it will change our country quickly and dramatically for the better. My sources? Jesus and Mary.
COUNTING THE DAYS TO CATECHISM
My Catechism Class will resume on the first Tuesday of September, Sept. 1, immediately after the usual
Tuesday Devotions at 7:00PM. It will take place in church and be broadcast live to the folks at home (I’m
sounding more and more like a game-show host! Yeesh!). Come if you can; strictly BYOC (bring your own cat-
echism, or else we can provide one for you!).
QUIZ-A-CATHOLIC
Requiescat in Pace! (“may he [or she] rest in peace!”) That’s what the R.I.P. on tombstones stands for.
Not only does it wish the rest of the just upon the decedent, but it also tells us where that person in buried. This
week’s quiz will be on the believed resting places of the twelve apostles. Of course, parts of all of their bodies
have been dispersed and diffused all around the world in relics, but we’re talking about the major part of each
one’s relic. See how well you can match them up (NB: each resting place may be used more than once!):
1. St. Peter 2. St. Andrew 3. St. James the Greater 4. St. John 5. St. Matthew
6. St. James the Less 7. St. Thomas 8. St. Simon 9. St. Jude 10. St. Philip
11. St. Bartholomew 12. St. Matthias
A) Compostela (Spain) B) Tiber Island (Rome) C) St. Peter’s Basilica (Rome) D) Church
of Ss. Philip & James (Rome) E) Amalfi (near Naples) F) Salerno (near Naples) G) India
H) Ephesus

QUOTES OF THE WEEK
“Nearly 80% of Planned Parenthood’s surgical
abortion facilities (are) located within walking distance
of black neighborhoods.” – Rev. Dean Nelson
“The founder of Planned Parenthood, Marga-
ret Sanger, was a notorious racist and anti-Catholic
bigot, yet this never stopped the organization from
defending her until now. Indeed, I once clashed on
TV with a Planned Parenthood official who denied
that Sanger was a racist. Now the abortion-happy in-
stitution has come clean and is admitting the obvi-
ous…Planned Parenthood is finally saying that there is
‘overwhelming evidence for Sanger’s deep belief in
eugenic* ideology.’” – Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League
*The “eugenic” movement grew out of the Darwin-ism of the 19th c., and promoted the idea that certain races were fit to propagate and certain others were not, and that through “selective breeding”, the “inferior” races should be eliminated and one “superior race”, a “master race” should take their place. Planned Parenthood and Nazism are the chil-dren of this movement.
