    READINGS FOR THE WEEK

    Scriptural Reflections on Stewardship

As we pray today for an increase of spiritual gifts, we are reminded by the bishops’ pastoral on stewardship that good stew-

ardship of the Church “means cherishing and fos-tering the gifts of all, while using one’s own gifts to serve the community of faith.”

Every Tuesday, the Blessed Sacrament is ex-

posed in the church from 3 to 4 p.m. It is an hour of prayer for the priests, religious men and women and an increase of vocations to the priesthood and the religious life of the Church.

We invite you to come and spend time with the Lord for these intentions and for your personal requests. Holy Hour closes with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

    THANKSGIVING FOOD COLLECTION

We thank all those who have been bringing in food for the Food Pantry. It’s greatly appreciated. All of this recent food donated will be put towards the

Thanksgiving Food Collection and will be distrib-uted to our needy parishioners for Thanksgiving Baskets. These baskets will be distributed from St. Nicholas rectory, as it was done last year.

Please continue your food donations by placing them in the ‘food receptacle’ located in the church vestibule. All food items need to be NON-PERISHABLE. Again, Thank you!

Bible Study Father Titus Njoku offers a Bible Class to all

parishioners and friends every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Rectory Basement. All are

welcome; no fee. For information, please call the Rectory at (201) 656-2490 or (201) 653-

4785. This Bible Class is currently on-going.

    EVANGELIZATION CORNER

The Gospel of John ”Behold the Lamb of God!”

    Scripture: John 1:35–42

The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples; and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, “What do you seek?” And they said to him,“Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?”

He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying; and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.

One of the two who heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ). He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, “So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Cephas” (which means Peter).

Meditation: Who is Jesus for you? John calls Jesus the Lamb of God and thus signifies Jesus’ mis-sion as the One who redeems us from our sins. In Jesus he saw the true and only sacrifice which can deliver us from sin.

Families with young children can be greatly enriched by beginning new traditions in their homes. Children especially enjoy the Advent Calendar because each day they get to open a new window which brings them closer to the birth of Our Lord.

As Advent Season approaches, we need to remind ourselves to celebrate the joy of anticipation, we must let the Season of Advent lead us into Christmas. Advent Candles and Wreaths assist us in focusing on our spiritual preparation the same way Christmas decorations assist us in our celebration of Christ’s Birth.

  • Manila sound is back and alive at … The HOTDOG BAND CONCERT At the Landmark Loews Theater In Jersey City Beckoning instantly without any premeditation or choice to the call of charitable deeds is an innate nature to this group, who believed that bands have their designated slot in the local limelight when solo performers were solely dominating the music scene… making this group, the HOTDOG, truly a rare breed. HOTDOG’s response to the earnest request of St Anne’s Special Fund-raising Committee for a fund-raising project that’s primarily banking on their talent is a noteworthy act of charity itself. The certainty of reviving the never-fading songs like “Manila,” (the iconic song that thrusts deep into the hearts of Pinoys who were long gone away from home), “Pers Lab,” “Annie Batungbakal,” “Bongga Ka Day,” “O Lumapit Ka,” “Miss Universe,” and many other of their hit ditties, is excit-ingly rising to a new height beyond expectations. Enjoying the popularity of a career that spanned almost four decades since they helped innovate the so-called “Manila Sound,” the HOTDOG’s music is an enticing and addictive as their moniker’s derivation and as sentimentally nostalgic as any plaintive native song specially among “balikbayans.” This long-lasting group of bi-lingual song-writer-singers has threaped their demanding popularity up to this date when a great number of diverse genres have mushroomed incessantly and constantly prevailed. Get nostalgic… be sentimental once more…! Enjoy the HOTDOG’s brand of music when they per-form for the benefit of the St. Anne’s Church on Sunday, November 23, 2008 (4-7 PM) at Land-mark Loews Theater along 54 Kennedy Boulevard, Jersey City, New Jersey with the special guest appearances of Ocean of Mercy Choir of Jersey City and the Urban Echo of Queens, New York. Sponsored by Twin Peaks Inc., Oscar Printing Services, Filipino Times and Asian Review, Global Philippines Magazine, Philippine Chronicle USA, Asian Journal , Planet Philippines and Newstar Philippines, the HOTDOG BAND CONCERT Tickets are at $20, $25, $30 and $35 with parking available at Square Ramp Garage.
