30 UNITED to HELP 1 Our Lord has said, “Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for Me.”

We now have an opportunity, as a parish, to live out this command. One of our parish families is in great need of financial assistance. We are asking 30 parishioners to commit to a monthly donation of $50 to the St. Vincent de Paul Society for a period of 1 year to help in this effort. We are hoping that this appeal will touch your heart and you will join others in saving this family. Please contact the Parish Office for further

details at 634-3641.

Take a look at suggested videos, ebooks that can uplift your entire families. Dr. Brant Pitre uses the Hebrew Scriptures and Jewish tradition to frame the actions of Jesus at the Last Supper and to provide a

fresh look at the heart of Catholic practice—the Eucharist. By taking us back to the Jewish roots of our faith, Dr. Pitre gives us

a powerful lens through which to see anew the bread of the pres-ence, the manna, the Last Supper, and ultimately the meaning of

the Eucharist.

Practice makes perfect! This is a true saying whether one is playing basketball, drawing a picture, reading, or even praying! In this wonderfully fun inaugural episode, the ever-joyful Brother Francis will help your children establish a personal relationship

with God!

Father Michael McGivney is a documentary that brings to life the story of one of America’s most extraordinary Catholic priests. Born in Connecticut of Irish immigrant parents just a few years before the Civil War, Michael McGivney grew up at a time when millions of Catholic immigrants were struggling to overcome poverty and prejudice. Emboldened to care for

families threatened by the death of the breadwinner, Fr. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus, a mutual benefit society that today re-mains the world’s largest Catholic lay organization with 1.8 million mem-bers in 13 nations. This film offers a rare glimpse into the life of an ex-

traordinary priest and visionary leader.

Over the next six weeks Father Bill’s homilies will be a “message series” entitled “THE NEXT S.T.E.P.S. In today’s gospel Jesus invites us to FOLLOW HIM. To follow Jesus is to be a disciple. In the church today to be a disciple is to do it INTENTIONALLY. In order to follow Him we must take it one step at a time. We will explore the acronym S.T.E.P.S and see that what Christ in-vites us to is: S –Serve in Ministry, T - Tithing or Giving, E – Engage with others in small groups, P – Practice of Prayer and Sacraments, S – Sharing our Faith. Like a child taking one step at a time until he is fully grown so we are asked to take ONE STEP AT A TIME. During the next few

weeks OPEN YOUR HEART, OPEN YOUR LIFE and see what the next step is that will make you a more INTENTIONAL DISCIPLE.

SOCIAL ACTION UPDATES To all of our amazing parishioners and volunteers who supported the Moving Forward Program by donating and/or delivering household goods, thank you so very much! We are humbled by and grateful for the outpouring of gener-

osity from each of you. We collected almost 1,000 items during the month of July and have delivered them to the Center’s warehouse in Valley Cottage. The program coordinator expressed her sincerest gratitude for the kindness

you have shown and wished you could see the smiles on the faces of the people who have and will receive your dona-tions. Know that you have truly made a difference for so many trying to regain a sense of normalcy in their lives.

A very special thanks to all those who came to the Zoeller Center on Sunday, August 19th to offer the gift of life through a blood donation and all of the volunteers who gave of their time. Summer is always a crucial time for blood donations and currently there is an extreme shortage. From your selfless act of kindness, we were able to collect 44

units of blood, creating 132 “doses of medicine” that will go on to touch the lives of many patients and their families!
