CROSS COUNTRY NEWS:
There were 123 runners from six different schools who competed at Trinity last Saturday. From that
total, our team had 19 runners with six of them placing within the top ten of their category. They were
Leo Ross, Emmanuel Morales, Kenneth Milburn, Lucas Benedetto, and Joshua Bonar. A special shout
out to Emmanuel Morales who placed 1st place for the second consecutive week. Way to go Coach
Milburn and the SAS Cross Country Team! Come out and support the team, they would love to see
you. Their final meet will be at Trinity, Saturday, October 17.
GREEN SCHOOL INITIATIVE GETS UNDERWAY:
St. Augustine’s now has an active parent and faculty committee working toward making our school a
Green School. We are investigating a number of practices that will help us be more environmentally
responsible. Thirty-nine students are very excited about making some changes and having the opportunity
to learn and lead in this endeavor. Students in grades 6-8 are now members of the SAS Environment Club
that will meet during recess. The moderator of this club is our PreK teacher, Mrs. Filar. Stay tuned for
further developments.
FALL FUN RUN/WALK:
The Wellness Committee will be hosting our 2nd Annual Fall Fun Run/Walk during the morning of
Tuesday, October 27th, 2015. This is a non-competitive 20 minute walk to encourage fun, healthy
exercise while enjoying all of the beautiful Fall colors. Students may wear black and orange in accordance
with the “dress down” days policy as found on page 8 of the student handbook. Please remember to
wear comfortable sneakers as well.
HEALTHY SNACK SALE:
The Wellness Committee will be holding a healthy snack sale during Character Counts week on
Tuesday October 20th. All proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The cost of each
snack will be $1.00 and each student may purchase up to 2 snacks. We will be selling Nutrigrain bars and
fresh fruit just prior to snack time in the morning. Snacks will be available to the Pre-K four year old
class on Wednesday, October 21st, and also for those who forgot their money on Tuesday.
