PROCLAIM THE RISEN CHRIST

On Easter morning everything—the spring weather, the flowers, birds and butterflies, the peo-ple around us in their finery, the beautiful liturgy and music—everything seems to bear witness that Jesus Christ is risen today! Like the eyewitness ac-counts in today’s scriptures, the glorious and joyful life all around us helps us to believe the good news of the Resurrection and sing “Alleluia!”

In the scriptures today we hear from Peter and Paul and John. All three speak with conviction about wit-nessing the resurrected Christ. John’s Gospel ac-count includes Mary of Magdala, who also was privi-leged to witness the Resurrection and tell others the good news. On this glorious Easter Sunday can we ourselves give eyewitness accounts that Jesus Christ is risen today, alive and active in our lives? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

TODAY’S READINGS

First Reading — Peter is an eyewitness: The Lord is risen (Acts 10:34a, 37-43).

Psalm — This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad (Psalm 118).

(1) Second Reading — All who are baptized, set your hearts in heaven (Colossians 3:1-4) or

(2) Second Reading — Christ our Passover is sacri-ficed; therefore let us celebrate (1 Corinthians 5:6b-8).

Gospel — Three witnesses, Mary, Peter, and John; each responds to the empty tomb (John 20:1-9) or Mark 16:1-7 (or, at an afternoon or evening Mass, Luke 24:13-35). ST. CHRISTOPHER OUTREACH HELP LINE

We continue to make food available for our parish-ioners in need.

During the following weeks of Lent, we wish to ask each household to bring one food item with them to Mass and place them in the baskets at the entrance alcove of church. This will help us greatly to prepare our monthly baskets especially with Easter coming.

We are low on tomato sauce and spaghetti, cans of Chef Boyardee, chili, various beans, tuna, fruit and meat like chicken, Vienna sausage and spam. We are also very low on peanut butter and jelly. We regularly use packs of grits, oatmeal, ramen noodles, macaroni and cheese, rice and pasta mixes and regular size boxes or bags of cereal. We are also out of bags of beans and rice, soups and drinks like Kool aid, lem-onade and tea bags.

Your generosity is and always will be appreciated es-pecially by those who ask us for food and help.

If you are in need of assistance, call 831-7692 and leave a message.
