Building God’s Kingdom: United in Faith, Alive in the Spirit

Eighth Annual Women’s Retreat: A beautiful group of women gathered the morning of

June 2 to study scripture focused on Sisters in

Faith. New insights and amiable discussion invigor-

ated all spiritually. The encouraging, non-

judgmental environment fostered the sense of com-

munity among the women. We left with a new sense

of purpose and heightened desire for prayer and

scripture.

Fr. George’s 20th

Anniversary:

We give thanks to God for

Fr. George’s 20 years as

pastor of St. Clare! The

milestone was celebrated

during June Hospitality af-

ter both Masses. Thanks to

Mary Jo and Roger Bern-

hard who do an outstand-

ing job coordinating the

monthly Sunday hospitali-

ty.

Celebrating St. Clare Service: Pa-

rishioners were invited to intentionally

serve others in the week leading to

the Parish Pentecost Potluck as part of

the celebration. Parishioners are doing

amazing deeds of service! Twenty-

three people shared what they did,

what they learned and what joy came

from it. Some of the activities: visiting

nursing homes, helping the homeless

find an apartment, feeding families in

need, participating in a walk-a-thon,

giving time to stressed friends, help-

ing family members with projects or

joining them for their favorite activity,

cutting neighbor’s grass, and chauf-

feuring seniors to appointments and

activities. Some of the learnings: pa-

tience and compassion, everyone

needs someone, work can be gratify-

ing, recognition of being blessed by

healthy family and kind friends, ac-

cepting the less fortunate as equals,

each person is useful, and the Holy

Spirit will provide what you need.

Some of the joy experiences: connect-

ing with like-minded people, enjoying

the activities and companionship, be-

ing there for someone, seeing the

happiness of the one served, belong-

ing, and gaining satisfaction from a

job well done. Thanks be to God for

all the spirit-filled stewards of

St. Clare!

If you have news to share, please send it

to [email protected] by the 1st

Tuesday of the month in which you hope

to have it published.

Cheryl and Jeffrey Kennedy chose St. Clare

because it feels like family. Sherry and J.K.

have three children, eleven grandchildren and

the third great-grandchild is on the way – fam-

ily is important to them.

Becky Downs chose St. Clare because it feels

like home.

Steven Timme chose St. Clare because it was

recommended by a friend and he enjoys com-

ing to Mass.

Michele Giuliani chose St. Clare because she

recently moved back to Cincinnati and had

been affiliated with the parish since eighth

grade. She loves the arts and her four dogs.

She misses her daughter, Angela, who is in

college.

Kathryn Walls and her three children, Mary

(10th

grade), Dewin (6th

grade), and Morgan

(3rd

grade) chose St. Clare with a recent

change in schools. The family is grieving a sig-

nificant loss of a loved one (August 2017) and

would appreciate your prayers during the diffi-

cult time.

Bradley and Stephanie Hausfeld chose

St. Clare because they have several friends

who are parish members and speak highly of

the church. Brad and Stephanie have three

boys. Two are at home, Ethan (10th) and Wil-

liam (6th).

Mary Geckle truly values her religion. She

chose St. Clare as she lives nearby.

Rick Berning chose St. Clare because he likes

the area and the Masses. He went to St. Clare

for grade school and still is friends with class-

mates.

Annual Parish Pentecost Potluck: A spirited time was had

by all who came to the party in the Parish Center after Mass on

May 19. Tom Stark grilled the brats, metts, and hot dogs. At-

tendees brought delicious sides and des-

serts – no one left hungry! Thanks to Stew-

ardship for hosting a fun evening: David

Groh, Susan Haffner, Tom Stark, and

Chris Stephens. The Thanksgiving Potluck

is November 17!
