A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR
Fr. Agustin is home in Mexico to visit his family. He will return to work on Thursday, June 6, 2019. I hope he gets warm, sunny weather and not all this rain like here. While he is away, there will be communion services on Thursday and Friday. The only exception is Ascension Thursday, May 30, 2019. I will do a morning Mass. In most of the country, they have moved the feast of the Ascension to Sunday but not here in Boston. Maybe the next Archbishop of Boston will move it. There will be no priest around on Thursday or Friday.
Tom Griffin is starting a book club. There are more details about it elsewhere in the bulletin. The book, “The Gift of Years, Growing Old Gracefully” is an excellent book. I read it twice. I would encourage you to join or at least read the book.
Here is an update for the Catholic Appeal. Our goal for the Parish of the Transfiguration is $56,000.00. Between those who responded to the Cardinal’s letter or mailed in a check or gave online or on Commitment Sunday, we have $56,783.00 in gifts and pledges. If all the pledges are paid off, we will have met our assessment. Again, thanks to the 338 families who made a gift or pledge to the 2019 Catholic Appeal. If you would like to make a pledge to the Catholic Appeal, it is not too late. Here’s a summary:
Total gifts and pledges $57,783.00 Paid gifts and pledges $45,573.00 Outstanding pledges $12,165.00 Well, that is it for now. Until next time take care. Fr. Earley

PRAYER FOR THOSE IN THE MILITARY SERVICE
O Prince of Peace, we humbly ask Your protection for all our men and women in military service. Give them unflinching courage to defend with honor, dignity, and devotion, the rights of all who are imperiled by injustice and evil. Be their rock, their shield, and their stronghold and let them draw their strength from You. For You are God, for ever and ever. Amen
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE SERVED OUR COUNTRY PAST AND PRESENT

A NOTE FROM THE VICAR
Fifteen years ago, on May 22, 2004 I was ordained a priest and I had the privilege to celebrate my First English Mass at Saint Thomas Parish in Wilmington on May 23. Later I celebrated my First Mass in Spanish at the Cathedral of the Our Lady of the Light in Leon, with my Mother and my family. I am very thankful especially to Fr. Earley, Fr. Tully and the wonderful community of the Parish of the Transfigura-tion for their support during these 15 years and especially now that I am assigned to the parish, thanks to Fr. Earley’s connections… I consider myself very fortunate being here in Wilmington. As you read this note, I will be at home with my family celebrating 15 years serving the Church in America, pray-ing for you and your intentions, please pray for me. Regards from Holy Land = Mexico. Fr. Agustin
