The Kingdom is Holistic! Our Mission Statement
As committed Christians of the Roman Catholic Church in Richmond, Indiana, we are a
community, centered in Christ, rooted in the Eucharistic communion, journeying together in our
call to be holy, constantly discerning the charisms of the Spirit,
making one another disciples of Christ and seeking God’s kingdom
in service, stewardship and charity.
“The kingdom of this world at times are sus-tained by arrogance, rivalries and oppression; the reign of Christ is a ‘kingdom of justice, love and peace.’ For a Christian, speaking of power and strength means referring to the power of the Cross, and the strength of Jesus’ love: a love which remains steadfast and complete, even when faced with rejection, and it is shown as the fulfillment of a life expended in the total surrender of oneself for the benefit of humani-ty.” —Pope Francis

In Christ and under His mercy,
Fr. Sengole T. Gnanaraj
We have a great resource to pray and prepare during the holy
time of Advent. Advent is a time of holy waiting and longing. It is a
time for renewal and regeneration. It is a time to deepen our prayer
life. During Advent, as we spend our times planning for Christmas,
let us not forget that we should prepare a place in our hearts for Jesus.
This preparation takes serious commitments to finding time to do our
regular examination of conscience and contrition. Each parish will
offer special time for reconciliation. In our parish, it will be on De-
cember 20, 2019 at 6pm at Holy Family Campus. Mark this time in
your calendar. Talk to your children about this. Help them prepare
for a good confession.
Also, at the back of the church, you will find a good resource
to help you pray and prepare for advent—The Magnificat Advent
Companion. Grab one for your family. This week’s bulletin also has
another announcement—a subsidized Magnificat subscription for our
parishioners. As a parish, it is always good to read from one single
source for our daily prayers. Here is this opportunity. Fill out the sub-
scription application form and get yourself a copy of Magnificat for
this Christmas. This subsidy is made possible through the Hubbard
Fund.

Bus Drivers Needed!
Our Seton Schools need bus drivers. The schoolchildren go to different locations to enhance their study experi-ence and to other locations for sports. We have cancelled some trips due to lack of bus drivers. If you feel called to take up this important work, please contact the school. We will pay for expenses incurred in obtaining license and permission. Thank you in advance!

Please encourage your children to serve at the altar of the Lord. We need children to serve at the altar, especially dur-ing Saturday and Sunday worship. Many Seton schoolchil-dren have taken training to be servers. They need to be on the schedule to serve. You can serve at any location—St. Mary, Holy Family and St. Andrew. Contact the parish office for more information. Altar server guidelines are available on our parish website.

Sengole Gnanaraj

This Filipibino tradition was introduced by the Spanish friars to allow the farmers to hear Mass before going to the fields early in the morning. The Masses or the nine-day novena starts on the 17th of December as early as 4 in the morning and culminates on Christmas Eve also known as Misa de Gallo, or “mass of the Rooster.” In some places,
pre-dawn Mass is announced by the ringing of the church bells and a brass band plays Christmas music all over the town. It is also believed that parish priests would go far
knocking on doors to wake and gather the faithful to attend the Mass.
A complete scenario of the Nativity or ‘Belen’ is in every church which includes the Three Wise Men carrying their gifts to the infant Jesus and the Star of Bethlehem that
guided them in their journey.
Shortly after the Misa de Gallo, families gather in their homes to celebrate Noche Buena and feast on various delicacies like queso de bola, bibingka, puto bungbon, or a
