FOR ADULTS)
An email scam targeting parishioners in Catholic churches
across Canada is now active in the Archdiocese of Toronto. The
scam, previously reported by several other dioceses, has now
appeared in our own diocese with reports of at least one
parishioner who lost $300 to a fraudster pretending to be the
pastor of a parish. Several other dioceses had reported an email
scam in which Catholics have received requests, purportedly
from their parish priests, for iTunes gift cards. A false email
from a priest is sent asking for the electronic gift cards to be sent
to another address so that they may be given to someone in need.
Please exercise caution when checking email messages. Think
before you click or open attachments, and always verify suspect
messages by phoning the sender on a known phone number (not
the phone number in the suspect message).
If you know of a non-Catholic living in our neighbourhood, who
would like to join the Catholic Church, please have him or her
phone Fr. Joe at 905-683-1403 ext. 105 for an appointment. Our
classes will begin in mid-September 2019.
CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK
During Catholic Education Week (5 – 10 May 2019), we give
thanks for the gift of publicly funded Catholic Education in our
province. Catholic schools foster supportive communities where
young people can experience the joy of God’s love and
understand the Christian mission in the world. Together, our
parishes, educators, and families sow the seeds of faith with the
next generation of Catholics, challenging them to live as joyful
and faithful disciples. To affirm your support of Catholic

CONGRATULATIONS go out to all the young people of
the St. Francis de Sales Parish community who recently
received the Sacrament of Confirmation. We pray that the
Holy Spirit will fill their hearts, guide their steps and
enkindle in them the boldness to stand firm as a witness of
God’s love.
THANK YOU to everyone who helped with this year’s
Confirmation program. Thank you especially to the many
Catechists who volunteered their time each week to teach
our Confirmandi and prepare them to receive this special
sacrament. Thank you as well, to the many individuals who
have stepped in, and continue to step in, to assist with the
passport stamping. The children and the parish community
are blessed to have your continual support and assistance.
The Rally will take place in Ottawa on Thursday May 9, 2019.
A bus will depart from Notre Dame High School at 6am. The
cost is $25 per person. In advance please contact Katherine
Mustachi, the High School Chaplain, to secure your spot on the
bus. She can be contacted at 905-686-4300 ext. 52022.

Our parish has Eucharistic Adoration in the Chapel the first
Friday of every month from 10am to 7pm. Can you spare a few
