Pastor’s Ponderings
In today’s Gospel we see the full essence of Catholicism on
display. The Apostles are invited to a meal with Jesus, and
Jesus demonstrates the fullness of mercy. Those two actions
are not simply nice options in our faith journey. They lie at
the core of our self understanding and capacity to walk with
God. There was a time in our culture when the preparing and
sharing of a meal was a powerful action. Time was required
to gather and prepare the ingredients, a designated time to be
ready to eat together after a long day of work or travel. The
meal fueled the body and the soul. Now, many people eat on
the run, independently of other family members if there are
work issues or practices to attend. Food can be microwaved
in seconds, picked up at a take out window, or delivered to a
location after a few strokes of a finger on a phone App. Is it
no wonder that making an hour for mass is proving so elu-
sive to hundreds of our parishioners when finding time to eat
as a family the rest of the week is a challenge? We can find
God in nature, in poetry and music and in the love of others,
but the privileged place is when we gather in his name, as he
asked, to break bread and to share the cup. In our Gospel,
Jesus also reaches out to Peter, and asks him three times if he
loves him. This effectively negates the three fold rejection of
Peter on Good Friday. Notice again, that Jesus takes the ini-
tiative. He does not wait for Peter to come begging. He does
not presume that Peter should have the courage and confi-
dence to take the first step. Jesus is aware of the rift and he
steps forward to heal it. How many times in our lives do we
demand that the person who aggrieved us needs to make the
first move? How many times will we go out of our way to
remind someone of their transgression, even if we have tried
to heal it? Jesus wants us to understand that to walk with him
in friendship is hard work. We need to be nourished by the
Eucharist, and eager to model our lives on him. As we con-
tinue our Easter journey, may we have the confidence to do
this for ourselves, and to model it for others.
Fr Jack, Deacon Paul and I will be away at the annual Dioce-
san Institute from May 20-23rd. Masses and prayer services
will be as announced in the bulletin that weekend.

IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROGRAM “PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN”
In the interest of children’s safety, we ask that children not be allowed to leave Mass to use the restrooms downstairs, unless they are accom-panied by an adult. Because we are a public building, doors are required to be unlocked, allowing entrance to all.

My name is Joe Wilson and
I am the director of Out-
reach for the Maine Life
Gate Christian Church. I
am reaching out to you and
your congregation as well
as the other local churches
in Limerick. As you all
know our Pastor's house
burned down on April 7th,
and we thank each and everyone of you for your generous support. How-
ever, the following day there was also a resident of Limerick, on Stonehill
Road whose house burned and he lost his home as well. Due to circum-
stances I believe that this individual also deserves the love of the Church to
help him out in a time of need. As the Bible says "but if you love those
who love you, what credit is that to you for even sinners love those who
love them; and if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is
that to you for even sinners do the same." Luke 6:32-33. I am excited for
the opportunity to come together as The Universal Church, to glorify our
Lord Jesus Christ, and to serve and bless the least of these in our commu-
nity. We have organized a benefit dance that is simply held in the heart of
The Giver. We are selling tickets to this dance for $10 a piece with all
proceeds going to benefit this man in need. Our goal is to sell 1,000 tickets
and we would love your help. If you would like to join us in this adventure
please contact me personally at [email protected] or call / text
207-651-4036. We have tickets on hand ready to distribute, we look for-
ward to working together and serving our Lord with you and your congre-
gation. Grace and peace, God bless you and your people.
Your friend, Joe Wilson

"Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress
yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will
stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you
where you do not want to go." He said this signifying by what kind of
death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him,
"Follow me." - Jn 21:18-19
