1. Easter Joy - In our Eastern tradition, kneeling is the sign of penance and since Easter is the time of Joy, we do not kneel from the Resurrection until Pentecost.

3. Divine Mercy Sunday - is April 11. Please join us at 10:40 for the praying of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Bring a prayer partner. Rosaries and copies of the prayer, “Jesus, I trust in You” will be available. Praying the Chaplet is an indulgence and there are many graces attached to this.

7. Help the Poor - Today, we pray, “Let the rich and the poor rejoice together this day!” If we give something to the poor, then their joy can be greater. We still have the opportunity to help the poor by placing donations in the poor box in the middle of the church.

8. Thank you – to the team of ladies for baking Paskas and Bread for Easter. Their hard work and dedication is much appreciated by all. This fundraising event brought a net profit of $1,142 to our treasury. God bless them for their great effort and generosity.

9. Sacrament of Matrimony - Couples planning to be married should contact the pastor at least six months prior to the proposed date to allow ample time for preparation. No other arrangements should be made before contacting the Church.

10. Ukrainian Catholic – while Ukrainian is in the title of our Church, one need not be ethnically Ukrainian to join our parish. The Ukrainian Catholic Church is a church that comes from the Ukrainian people, but is for the entire human race. We live out our Catholic faith according to the Byzantine Rite (our theology, liturgy, spirituality and canon law are non-Latin), while maintaining full Eucharistic communion with the Catholic Church in Rome. – (Fr. My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already

there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

ARTOS An artos (Greek: Ἄρτος, "leavened loaf", "bread") is a loaf of leavened bread that is blessed during services in the Eastern Orthodox and Byzantine rite Catholic Churches. A large Artos is baked with a seal depicting the resurrection for use at Pascha (Easter).

Near the end of the Paschal Vigil, after the Prayer Before the Ambo, a single large loaf of bread, the Artos, is brought to the priest. Depicted on the top of the Artos are either the symbol of Christ's victory over death—the Cross, surmounted by a crown of thorns—or the Resurrection of Christ. The Artos symbolizes the physical

presence of the resurrected Christ among the disciples. The priest blesses the Artos with a special prayer and sprinkles it with Holy Water. The Artos is then placed on a small table before the Iconostasis where it remains throughout Bright Week. It is customary, whenever the faithful enter the Temple, for them to kiss the Artos as a way of greeting the Risen Christ. On every day of Bright Week, after the Paschal Divine Liturgy (or, alternatively, after Paschal Matins), the Artos is carried in a solemn procession around the outside of the church. In monasteries, the Artos is carried to the Trapeza every day of Bright Week, where at the end of the festive meal, it is lifted in a ceremony called the Lifting of the Artos. The one performing the ceremony will lift up the Artos (symbolizing Christ's Resurrection) and say, "Christ is Risen!" All will respond, "He is truly Risen!" The celebrant will then make the sign of the Cross with the Artos as he says, "We worship His Resurrection on the third day!" Then two Paschal hymns are sung and everyone comes forward to kiss the Artos and receive the Superior's blessing, as all sing the Paschal troparion many times.

On Bright Saturday, after the Divine Liturgy, the priest says another prayer over the Artos and it is then broken and distributed among the whole congregation along with the Prosphora.

The significance of the artos is that it serves to remind all Christians of the events connected with the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. While still living on earth, the Lord called Himself the Bread of Life, saying: I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and He who believes in Me shall never thirst (John 6:35). After His Resurrection, more than once Jesus appeared to His disciples, ate before them and blessed their own food. For example, as evening fell on the first day of His Resurrection, He was recognized in Emmaus by two of His disciples as He blessed and broke bread (Luke 24:13-35).

On the 40th day after His Resurrection, the Lord ascended into heaven, and His disciples and followers found comfort in their memories of the Lord: they recalled His every word, His every step and His every action. When they met for common prayer, they would partake of the Body and Blood of Christ, remembering the Last Supper. When they sat down to an ordinary meal, they would leave a place at the head of the table empty for the invisibly present Lord and would lay bread on that place.

Remembering this custom of the Apostles, the Fathers of the Church made it their custom to put out the Artos at the Paschal Feast in memory of the appearances of the Risen Lord to His disciples, and also in memory of the fact that the Lord Who suffered and was resurrected for our justification has made Himself the true Bread of Life and is invisibly present in His church always,to the close of the age (Mattew 28:20).

The Artos may also be compared to the unleavened bread of the Old Testament, of which ancient Israel, delivered from their captivity in the land of Egypt, ate during the weekof the Passover (Ex. 12:15-20).

Even as the Jews bore the unleavened bread upon their heads out of Egypt through the desert (Exodus 12:34) until they had crossed the Red Sea, after which they dedicated the bread to God, divided it amongst all their host, and having all eaten thereof, became...terrible to their enemies, even so do we, saved by our Resurrected Lord from the captivity of that Pharaoh of the mind, the Devil, bear forth the blessed bread the Artos from the day of the Resurrection of Christ and, finally, having dedicated this bread to God, we eat of it and preserve it to the health of body and soul.

2. Воскресіння – в церковній традиції клякання символізує покуту та покаяння. Тому-то в часі

посту ми багато клякали та били поклони. Великдень – це час радості з воскреслим Ісусом, тому Свята Церква поучає нас не клякати у дні від Воскресіння до Зіслання Святого Духа.

3. Збори Церковних Комітетів та Організацій: Пасторальної Ради – відбудуться у четвер 15-го квітня о 6:00 год. вечора. Наша Мати Неустанної Помочі – у пон. 19-го квітня о 7:00 год в Zoom. Комітету Управління – відбудуться у четвер 22-го квітня о 6:00 год вечора.

4. Відвідини Хворих - не усі члени парохії можуть славити Бога разом із нами у Церкві, через недомагання, хворобу, чи перебування у старечому домі. Однак не так хвороба чи старість, а самотність та одинокість приносять їм страждання та смуток. Tелефонний дзвінок, чи сердечний лист матимуть цілющий ефект на їхнє життя.

Отож допомагаймо одні одним, приносячи плід любові.

5. Щиро вдячні – для усіх наших парофіян та друзів, які продовжують фінансово підтримувати нашу церкву в цей нелегкий час. Дякуємо вам за пожертви вислані поштою та через інтернет. Ми цінуємо вашу щедрість та свідчимо про вашу дбайливість, як вияв добра вашого серця. Нехай наш Бог дарує мир душам вашим та збереже і охороняє вас та ваші родини від хвороби та усякого зла.

7. Завіщання: Пам’ятайте про вашу парафіяльну Церкву Св. о. Миколая у вашому заповіті.

8. Шлюб: - Наречені мають вписатися в книгу на вінчання заздалегідь, але не менш як за 6 місяців до весілля. За ці місяці наречені мають відбути підготовчі бесіди із священником. Принаймні один з наречених, або їх батьки мають бути зареєстрованими практикуючими парафіянами, щоби вінчання могло відбутися саме в церкві св. Миколая.

9. Хрещення – традиційно уділяється у неділю близько 40 днів після народження дитини. Диякон або священник матимуть підготовчі класи перед хрещенням для батьків та хресних батьків. Присутність дідів та бабців не є обов’яковою. Батьки мусять бути активними парофіянами та зареєстрованими у парофії. Традиційно для дітей вибирають ім’я святого чи святої. Один з спонсорів мусить бути практикуючим Католиком, котрий бере участь у Святих Тайнах та підтримує

парофію. Ця інформація має бути підтвердженна парохом.

«Ісусе, вірую, що Ти – в Пресвятих Дарах. Ісусе, люблю Тебе понад усе і бажаю Тебе всією душею. Я не можу зараз прийняти Тебе таємниче, прийди в моє серце хоча б духовно. Ісусе, обіймаю Тебе, не дай мені ніколи розлучитися з Тобою. Ісусе, моє благо, моя ніжна любов, поклоняюся Тобі кожну мить; Ісусе, Спасителю мій, благослови мою душу».

Troparion (7): While the tomb was sealed, O Christ God,* You dawned as life from the sepulchre,* and while the doors were shut,* You came to Your disciples, the Resurrection of all,* renewing a right spirit in us through them,* according to Your great mercy.

+Glory be and Now…Kontakion (8): With his searching hand,* Thomas explored Your life-giving side, O Christ God.* For when You entered while the doors were shut,* he called out to You with the rest of the Apostles:* You are my Lord and my God!

Prokimenon ( 3): Great is the Lord and great is His strength;* and of His knowledge there is no end. verse: Praise the Lord, for a psalm is good; may praise be sweet to our God (Ps 146:1).

Epistle (Act 5:12-20): In those days through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all together in Solomon’s Portico. None of the rest dared to join them, but the people held them in high esteem. Yet more than ever believers were added to the Lord, great numbers of both men and women, so that they even carried out the sick into the streets, and laid them on cots and mats, in order that Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he came by. A great number of people would also gather from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all cured. Then the high priest took action; he and all who were with him (that is, the sect of the Sadducees), being filled with jealousy, arrested the apostles and put them in the public prison. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors, brought them out, and said, ‘Go, stand in the temple and tell the people the whole message about this life.’

Alleluia (8): Come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord, let us acclaim God our Saviour (Ps 94:1).

verse: For God is the great Lord and the great king over all the earth (Ps 94:3).

Gospel: (John 20:19-31): When the evening arrived on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’ When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’ But Thomas, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, ‘We have seen the Lord.’ But he said to them, ‘Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my f inger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.’ A week later, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.’ Thomas answered him, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.

Instead of “It is truly...” : The Angel cried out to the One full of Grace: O chaste Virgin, rejoice! And again I

say, Rejoice! Your Son has risen from the tomb on the third day, and raised the dead. Let all people rejoice! Irmos (Tone 1): Shine, shine, O new Jerusalem! for the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! Exult now and be glad, O Zion! And you, O chaste Mother of God, take delight in the resurrection

Communion Verse: Receive the body of Christ; taste the fountain of immortality. Alleluia! (3x).

Instead of "Blessed is He..." "We have seen..’ "Let our mouths..."& "Blessed be the name of the Lord...": Christ is risen from the dead, trampling death by death, and to those in the tombs giving life.

“Christ is risen” is sung again once instead of “Glory be to the Father…” at the dismissal. Then the Troparion

“Christ is risen” is sung as in the beginning of the Liturgy, but with an additional ending. And to us He has granted life eternal;* we bow down before His resurrection on the third day.

Прокімен(глас 3): Великий Господь наш і велика сила його,* і розумові його немає міри(Пс146,5).

Стих: Хваліте Господа, бо благий псалом, Богові нашому нехай солодке буде

хваління(Пс146,1).

Апостол: (Ді 5,12-20): Тими днями руками апостолів робилося багато знаків і чудес у народі. Усі вони перебували однодушно у притворі Соломона, і ніхто сторонній не насмілювався до них пристати; однак народ хвалив їх вельми. Віруючих дедалі більше й більше приставало до Господа, сила жінок і чоловіків; так, що й на вулиці виносили недужих і клали на постелях і на ліжках, щоб, як ітиме Петро, бодай тінь його на когонебудь з них упала. Сила людей збиралась навіть з довколишніх міст Єрусалиму, несучи хворих та тих, що їх мучили нечисті духи, і вони всі видужували. Устав тоді первосвященик і всі ті, що були з ним, – то була секта садукеїв, – і, повні заздрощів, наклали руки на апостолів і вкинули їх до громадської в'язниці. Але вночі ангел Господень відчинив двері в'язниці й, вивівши їх, мовив: «Ідіть і, ставши в храмі, говоріть до народу всі слова життя цього.»

Алилуя (8): Прийдіте, радісно заспіваймо Господеві, воскликнім Богу, Спасителеві нашому(Пс94,1).

Стих: Бо Бог – великий Господь і цар великий по всій землі(Пс94,3).

Євангеліє: (Ів 20,19-31): А як звечоріло, того самого дня, першого в тижні, – а двері ж були замкнені там, де перебували учні: страхались бо юдеїв, – увіходить Ісус, став посередині та й каже їм: «Мир вам!» Це промовивши, показав їм руки й бік. І врадувались учні, побачивши Господа. І ще раз Ісус їм каже: «Мир вам!» Як мене послав Отець, так я посилаю вас.» Це промовивши, дихнув на них і каже їм: «Прийміть Духа Святого! Кому відпустите гріхи – відпустяться їм, кому ж затримаєте – затримаються.» Тома ж, не був з ними, коли то прийшов був Ісус. Тож повідали йому інші учні: «Ми Господа бачили.» Та він відрік: «Якщо не побачу на його руках знаків від цвяхів і не вкладу свого пальця у місце, де були цвяхи, а й руки моєї не вкладу в бік його, – не повірю!» По вісьмох днях знову були вдома його учні, а й Тома з ними. І ввіходить Ісус, – а двері були замкнені! – стає посередині та й каже: «Мир вам!» А тоді промовляє до Томи: «Подай сюди твій палець і глянь на мої руки. І руку твою простягни і вклади її у бік мій. Та й не будь невіруючий, – а віруючий!» І відказав Тома, мовивши до нього: «Господь мій і Бог мій!» І каже йому Ісус: «Побачив мене, то й віруєш. Щасливі ті, які, не бачивши, увірували!» Ще й інші численні чудеса, що їх не списано у цій книзі…….

Замість Достойно: Ангел сповіщав Благодатній: Чистая Діво, радуйся. І знову кажу: Радуйся. Твій Син воскрес тридневний із гробу, і мертвих воздвигнув він; люди, веселіться. Ірмос(глас 1): Світися, світися, новий Єрусалиме, слава бо Господня на тобі возсіяла. Радій нині і веселися, Сіоне. А ти, Чистая, красуйся, Богородице, востанням рождення твого.

Причасний: Похвали, Єрусалиме, Господа, хвали Бога Твого, Сіоне(Пс147,1).. Алилуя (х3).

Замість Благословен, хто йде в ім'я Господнє: Христос воскрес із мертвих…. Під час відпусту“Христос воскрес” співається один раз(на просту мелодію) замість “Слава Отцю…” Тоді знову співається Тропар“Христос воскрес”, як і на початку Літургії, але з додатковим

закінченням. Тропар:Христос воскрес із мертвих, (х3). І нам дарував життя вічне, поклоняємось його тридневному воскресінню.
