Dear Parishioners: There is an old proverb that says, "when the tide rises… all boats rise with it.” This past Saturday, I was able to attend the youth Summer Camp at the Walnut Street Theater. One of our Catholic school students,

Hannah Alfonso, would be on stage that morning. I sat with an excited audience of parents, grandparents, and brothers and sisters who looked on with great expectation as these young actors gave their heart and soul as they performed their respective parts that they have been rehearsing for the past month. Many folks could be overheard saying “That’s my son” and “That's my daughter,” or “That's my grandchild!” In Addition, there was at least one pastor who could say, "That's my parishioner!” Throughout the year there are peak experiences where we can all share in the joy, success, and accomplishments of our fellow brothers and sisters. This would be one of those occasions. I'm not only happy, I'm proud of our little actress. But I am equally grateful for the commitment and dedication she extends as one of our most faithful altar servers. I can remember a day in early June when we had two big ceremonies on the same day, a Confirmation and an anniversary celebration of a religious sister, and Hannah was kind enough to serve both ceremonies in the same day. We are proud of all of our young parishioners who excel on sports fields and basketball courts, in music & dance recitals, who receive scholarships and academic recognitions, and who show outstanding zeal in Christian service to our community and those around us. St. Paul reminds us that we are all parts of one body. Similarly, the hand cannot say to the foot, "I do not need you." All of us need to lean on one another. We need to build up and sustain one another. We need to love and forgive one another. We need to encourage and support one another. We need to help each other in times of need, and rejoice in each other’s accomplishments. I believe there is great wisdom in

that old proverb, “When the tide rises… all boats rise with it.” Hannah, we are proud of you… “May the good Lord bless the work He has begun in you… and see it through to its fulfillment.” (Philippians 1:6) -Fr. Richard

SEGUNDA COLECTA EN AGOSTO 8/13 Escuela

(Filipenses 1:6) -Padre Richard 3-125
