Thus it is wri en that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the na ons, beginning from Jerusalem.”
-Luke 24:46-47
A MESSAGE FROM FATHER PAT Dear St. Pius X Community, WOW, THANKS a million to all those that made the Gala a HUGE success. The numbers are in and this was a record Gala, we ne ed over $60K! To the volunteers, staff and a endees thanks! I am wai ng for a few bids back on computers for teachers. I hope to get that done this month. I took a few days last week to go back for my nephew’s First Communion. He is so excited and ready for this. I look at our second graders as they come for their last few blessings in place of receiving and how excited they are ge ng and wonder, why do we lose that excitement. Some come up and almost look bored, some approach not knowing what to say or do. Many come up and you can tell that they get it. One person as he steps forward, looks at the cross and I would love to know what he is thinking. It is a profound gesture and statement of faith. It moves me every me. Our response must be just a simple yet profound AMEN. Not “I believe,” or “thanks” or “thank you”, just AMEN meaning, so be it. It is the same word and meaning in every language. We profess our belief and our communion with all of our fellow Catholics. On a Sunday, picture all the thousands or millions of Catholics at the very same me saying, “AMEN.” If we really believed in what we were doing, I can’t imagine that we would not have lines out the door and be building a new parish on every corner. As we receive, we are transforming ourselves into that which we have received. Simply, amazing! One of the reasons we should stand for Communion is that it is a me for community with all those that are receiving with us. We stand together. Again, do what you are most comfortable with, I am not asking that anymore. There are many things that make a pastor worry. From the empty seats, to lack of par cipa on, to money, to those that never show up and on and on, but when St. Vincent DePaul tells me that we collected over 5 tons of food for Lent, then there is great hope! THANK YOU!
GETTING TO KNOW YOU! Many of you have been wearing name tags to Mass and other church events - thank you! Please be sure to pick up your name tag or sign up in the back of the church to have a name tag made. We become a more welcoming church community when we are able to greet one another by name.
Glad to know you!
