Dear Friends,
Summer has begun! With warm temperatures and long sunny days, this season brings intense growth to many fruits and vegetables we eat. At Mass today, though, we focused on a different kind of food, the Eucharist. Bread and wine are offered by God’s people, and through the priest, are blessed by God, becoming the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sharing this meal today, in remembrance of the Last Supper, we find our true and lasting sustenance. Let us become what we consume, the living presence of Jesus in a world that is so in need of His love, mercy and peace!
This week is an exciting week here in the parish. On Monday we look forward to greeting our Summer PREP students. During this week our young people will gather to learn in a more intense way about Jesus and His love and care for them. This is a week of learning and activities which bring our students closer to Jesus and His Church. I am grateful to Mrs. Heeney, Mrs. O’Neil and all of the catechists and classroom aides who make this summer PREP possible. I am so grateful to our teen members who also assist with the program. Please pray for our young parishioners, that what they learn this week will guide them throughout the coming year.
This past Monday we welcomed Father Anthony Raymundo to our parish staff. As you are aware this is Father’s first priestly assignment. I am confident that you have already made him feel welcomed and we wish him many joyful and fulfilling years here at Saint Robert’s.
Thank you to those who participated last weekend in our survey for the possible adjustment to the time for our Saturday evening anticipated Mass, commonly referred to as the Vigil. The results can be found in the bulletin. It appears, at least at this stage of the process, that a change is desired. Please remember that you have until Sunday, June 30th to make your opinion known. A decision will be made at that time as to what direction we will be moving. This is important because some printing decisions must be made in early July. Remember, that all ballots must be signed to be counted and only one ballot per person, and naturally only one vote per person.
May Saint Robert Bellarmine continue to bless our community and may these summer days be filled with the warmth of God’s grace!
With prayers,

FOCUS ON FAITH THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
Genesis 14:18-20 — Melchizedek, king of Salem, blessed Abram.
Psalm 110:1-4 — You are a priest forever, in the line of Melchizedek.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 — As often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you
proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.
Luke 9:11b-17 They ate and were all satisfied
In our age of fast food and eating on the go, families often find that they are not
eating meals together at a dinner table. As a family, look back over the past week and recall how many meals
were eaten together and how many meals were eaten alone or on the run.
In the Bible, meals are seen as much more than a means to satisfy a physical need. The Hebrew people viewed
eating a meal as a way of expressing and strengthening their relationship to one another under God's
covenant. It is no coincidence that meals are often the setting of Jesus' teaching and miracles in the Gospels. In
this Sunday's Gospel, we hear the story of Jesus feeding the crowd of 5,000 people.
Read this Sunday's Gospel, Luke 9:11b-17. Talk about the kinds of hungers that people have in addition to
physical hunger. Describe the hungers that a family nourishes (love, compassion, forgiveness, laughter, and so
on). Together give thanks for the food that Jesus gives us that we celebrate on this Sunday's feast of the Body
and Blood of Jesus. Make a commitment to share in this Eucharistic meal together as a family.

CATECHISTS FOR FAMILY PREP OPTION Our Family PREP option is expanding which is wonderful news to see many of our families choosing this option.
With this in mind, we are in need a few catechists to help with our Sunday once a month program. Our classes usually meet the 1st Sunday of the month from September to April from 10:00 to 11:15 AM. This would be a commitment of 8 days a year.
If you feel that God is calling you to share your faith with the young people of our parish, please consider volunteering. Training will be provided.
For more information, if you have any questions, or would like to volunteer, please contact Donna Heeney at [email protected] or 215-343-9433. Thank you for your consideration and God bless!
