Dear Parishioners,
"Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good; His great love endures forever. "(Psalm 107: 1) With the words of the Psalmist, we, the sisters of Jesus Good Shepherd want to thank God for all the blessings we have received as a congregation and especially in this foundation. Jesus Good Shepherd has led us to this American land to express the Pastoral Charism that we have received as a gift of the Holy Spirit and put it to the service of this parish of Saint Stephen Protomartyr.
As the days go by, we continue to discover how the Lord continues to show us his kindness, allowing us to share with the parish community the path of faith and the search for a deeper and more committed spiritual development. Because God is good, we too feel called to start along with the Archdiocese of Chicago the path of Ecclesial Renewal.
We perceive that all ecclesial events are gifts from God who always surprises, and who invites us to be in constant dynamism, as He did in ancient times with the people of Israel, He does now with all of us. You brothers and sisters have been preparing for our coming to this community, and we also left our communities of origin in the Philippines and Peru to live this exodus, which is nothing else than to welcome the missionary character of the whole Church.
Our presence as sisters of Jesus Good Shepherd – known as Pastorrelle sisters - with you, is a sign of the universal call that Jesus Christ makes to every Christian. We felt that God has sent us and will sustain us by his merciful love, which always brings to fruition the work that He starts.
In your generosity, we discover the limitless kindness of God, who is overflowing, free and disinterested, who knows the needs and every detail. With you, we feel sisters, called to live our pastoral motherhood in communion with Fr. David, the Pastor of this parish so that together we make visible the desire of Jesus "... they will be a flock with one Shepherd" (Jn 10:16)
This message of gratitude is for all of you who form this community of St. Stephen. We do not know your names, but we say with great affection, THANK YOU !!!. We are grateful for the welcome, for that spontaneous and sincere smile; for the simple greeting, for the closeness that makes us feel that we belong here, for leaving the doors of your hearts open, so your Christian fraternity is manifested, as we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. God bless all the projects you have in your heart.

perdura para siempre.” (sal,107:1) con las palabras del Salmista queremos dar gracias a Dios por todas las
bendiciones que hemos recibido como congregación y especialmente en esta fundación. Jesús Buen Pastor
nos ha conducido a esta tierra americana para expresar el Carisma Pastoral que hemos recibido como regalo del Espíritu Santo y ponerlo al servicio de esta parroquia de
San Esteban Protomártir. Con el pasar de los días seguimos descubriendo como el Señor nos sigue demostrando su bondad, al permitirnos compartir junto a la comunidad parroquial el camino de
fe y la búsqueda de un desarrollo espiritual más profundo y comprometido. Porque Dios es bueno
también nosotras nos sentimos convocadas a iniciar junto a la Arquidiócesis de Chicago el
camino de Renovación Eclesial. Percibimos que todos los acontecimientos
eclesiales son regalos provenientes de un Dios que siempre sorprende, y que invita a estar en
constante dinamismo, como lo hizo en tiempos antiguos con el pueblo de Israel, lo
hace ahora con todos nosotros. Ustedes hermanos se pusieron en movimiento al saber que llegaríamos a esta comunidad y nosotras
también dejamos nuestras comunidades de origen de Filipinas y Perú para vivir este éxodo,
que no es otra cosa, que acoger el carácter misionero de toda la Iglesia.
Nuestra presencia de hermanas de Jesús Buen Pastor – Pastorcitas junto a ustedes, es un signo de la llamada
universal que Jesucristo hace a todo cristiano, nos sentíamos enviadas y sostenidas por el amor
misericordioso de Dios, que siempre lleva a buen término la obra que Él inicia.
En la generosidad de ustedes descubrimos la bondad sin límites de Dios, que es desbordante, gratuito y
desinteresado, que conoce las necesidades y cada detalle. Con ustedes nos sentimos hermanas, llamadas a vivir nuestra maternidad pastoral en comunión con el Padre David, pastor de esta parroquia, para que juntos hagamos visible el deseo de Jesús “…serán un rebaño
con un solo Pastor”(10:16) Este mensaje de gratitud es para todos los que forman
la comunidad de San Esteban, ahora no conocemos sus nombres pero decimos con mucho afecto, GRACIAS!!! por la acogida, por esa sonrisa espontánea y sincera;
por el saludo sencillo, por la cercanía que nos hace sentir que les pertenecemos, por dejar las puertas de su corazón abiertas para que brote la fraternidad cristiana,
donde todo nos reconocemos hermanos. Dios bendiga todos los proyectos que tienen en su corazón.

WHAT DOES THE BACK PACK MINISTRY DO?
Many students in the Des Plaines schools go home on Friday to empty refrigerators and cupboards. By the time they return to school on Monday they are
too hungry to keep up with their classwork.
For four years St Stephen Parish has been filling bags every week with enough food to provide 14
Kids weekend meals and nutritious snacks. We are ready for a new year.
Your generosity has inspired other local faith communities to do the same.

During the month of October, candles for the Mass of Remembrance on All Souls Day can be
purchased after all Masses for $5. Each candle is dedicated to one individual

The Poor Box "Do you know where this is in our church? It is back by the cry room. Do you know where the money goes to that is placed in the poor box? it is used to buy $15 gift cards for the poor that come looking for assistance at the parish offices. We can not keep up with the number of people that come to our door. If you would like to donate cash or cards, you may place in the poor box or drop in the collection in an envelope marked "For the Poor".

PADS Providing Advocacy, Dignity and Shelter
The PADS season is now upon us. Homeless individuals are offered food and shelter, for the night,
at various suburban locations. On Friday night, from October1 to April 30, St Mary’s hosts PADS.
A dedicated group of volunteers help provide a safe, warm environment for the night.
Outside help is needed to provide warm, gently used winter clothing. New socks and long underwear
are always needed, along with personal care items. Cash donations, are also accepted.
Items can be dropped off at St Mary’s, on Center Street between 6:00PM and 7:00PM on
Friday nights. If you are unable to drop off your donation, at St Mary’s, call and I will pick up your

PADS
La temporada de PADS ya está sobre nosotros. A las personas sin hogar se les ofrece comida y refugio, por la noche, en varios lugares suburbanos. El viernes por la
