Our dear Catechumens and Candidates celebrated the Rite of Initiation at the Easter Vigil Mass. They have been diligently
preparing to receive their Sacraments of Initiation since August 2018. I know we are all so happy to receive them into full communion with the Catholic Church. Well done good and faithful servants of God!
On Tuesday, we will begin our lessons on Mystagogy, which is the study of the sacred mysteries of God. "RCIA" stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. It's the process by which adults come into full communion with the Catholic Church. It's free, childcare is provided, we have a lot of fun and we always have something good to eat! If you have questions, feel free to email me at [email protected].

“No temáis, he resucitado y siempre estaré́ con vosotros”.

Helping Hands of Midland 1301 Brinson Lane
(432) 520-8900
In a perfect world, Helping Hands would not exist. In a perfect world, Helping Hands' services of financial assistance would not be needed by anyone. In a perfect world, all of us here at Helping Hands would have to volunteer our services elsewhere. That's because in a perfect world, everyone's needs would already be met thus eliminating any need for benevolence assistance. We all know there is no such thing as a "perfect" world. Jesus said "the poor you have with you always". In the Bible, we are instructed to help others, to be a good Samaritan, to put other people's needs before our own. There will always be those in need in our world including right here in Midland. Sometimes those needs can appear to be so great at Helping Hands, we can scarcely breathe. Other times, not often but occasionally, the needs of our fellow man are not quite as overwhelming. Usually around this time of year-when income tax return checks are issued-and when jobs are plentiful, Helping Hands experiences a downward shift in the amount of calls to our helpline. We have several safeguards in place to ensure every legitimate need, no matter how many or how few, is met to the fullest extent. Those safeguards include *Charity Tracker- a computer program set up to track individual assistance amongst several benevolence organizations and churches throughout Midland. This helps us to follow a person's history of assistance and to check for patterns. *Limiting our assistance to once every 12 months and only if it is a legitimate need. We do not help yearly just because 12 months has passed since an individual's last assistance. *Requiring single parents apply for child support, individual proof of hardship (medical bills), proof of income, forward progress being made, etc. There are always exceptions to our rules. That is why we strive continuously to be sensitive to God's leading and walk in compassion and mercy with each call that we receive and each client that we meet with while using our safeguards. We want you to know that every legitimate need for assistance, whether it be hundreds per month or just a few per day or week, we here at Helping Hands are committed to being good stewards of all that you donate to us as we work towards being the hands and feet of Christ reaching out to those in need. Thank you for your donations of money, time and prayers. We could not do this work without you and your support. May you be richly blessed.
