Well done to 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes who entered their first over primary schools' choir competition. It was a prestigious competition held in Dublin recently. The choir with their entry "Adiemus" by Karl Jenkins finished in brilliant 6th place on a score of 83 points with the outright winners finishing on a score of 89 points. Sincere thank to Anita Russell for all her hard work that has allowed the choir attain such a high standard.
Kilkenny hurler Richie Hogan paid a surprise visit to the school on Wednesday 15th March. He practised some hurling skills, played a hurling match with the older children and visited each class promoting the game of hurling.

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES 2018
Pope Francis personally chose Dublin, to be the host diocese for the World Meeting of Families from 22nd -26th August 2018. Planning for this great national and international celebration of faith is well underway. A dedicated office and support team has been established and later this year a national programme of talking about the family will begin with an emphasis on Pope Francis’ teaching and reflections. The World Meeting of Families promises to be an occasion that will reflect on the faith experience of fami-lies from many parts of the world as well as on the challenges and celebrations which charac-terise the ups and downs of day-to-day family life.
As you know hosting this national and interna-tional event requires an enormous amount of planning and funding. In this regard the second national collection will be held on the weekend of 1st & 2nd April 2017.
FIRST PENANCE
Children from Talbotstown & Tynock National School will make their First Penance on Wednesday, 29th March in the Church of the Assumption, Tynock at 7.30 p.m.
