TRADICIO NES DE NUESTRA FE

Los cristianos creemos que Jesucristo esta física-mente presente en el pan y el vino consagrado durante la Misa. Esta creencia es tan antigua como nuestra Iglesia, pero fue solo en el siglo XIII que los cristianos comenzaron a venerar la presencia sacramen-tada de Jesús en la hostia. Fue durante esta época que nació la fiesta de Corpus Cristi o la actual celebración del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. Muchas comunidades cristianas celebran esta fiesta con pro-cesiones y cantos en honor al Santísimo Sacramento del altar. Recuerdo que en Texas el pueblo méxicoamericano canta-ba: “Bendito, bendito, bendito sea Dios, / los ángeles cantan y alaban a Dios (2x). Yo creo Dios mío que estas en el altar / oculto en la hostia ten vengo adorar (2x)”. Este canto enfatiza la verdadera pres-encia de Jesús en el pan consagrado, pero sus cantores ignoran el hecho que nosotros también fuimos consagrados en el Bautismo; consagrados para “alter Cristus” (otro Cristo) en el vecindario. En un mundo donde menos gente asiste a Misa el único Corpus Cristi que la mayoría de la gente secularizada verá es tu cuerpo. Ojalá podamos comportarnos como buenos testigos de la fe y que proclamemos “bendito, bendito” siempre y en todo lugar.

The new covenant, the law’s oblation, is ratified in the blood of Christ, the unblemished offering poured out for us. Monday: 2 Pt 1:2-7; Ps 91:1-2, 14-16; Mk 12:1-12 True piety, marked by trust in God, leads to genuine love for others. The good news, rejected by some, will be preached to others, especially the poor. Tuesday: 2 Pt 3:12-15a, 17-18; Ps 90:2-4, 10, 14, 16; Mk 12:13-17 Await the Day of the Lord in peace, full of virtue and integrity. Obedience to civil authority must never interfere with the higher obedience owed to God who alone is our refuge. Wednesday: 2 Tm 1:1-3, 6-12; Ps 123:1b-2; Mk 12:18-27 Timothy is reminded to be strong, loving, and wise in serving the Lord Jesus. The resurrected state will transcend all human understanding. Thursday: 2 Tm 2:8-15; Ps 25:4-5ab, 8-10, 14; Mk 12:28b-34 An early liturgical hymn sings of our identification with Christ’s way of suffering and glory. Jesus speaks of a single fidelity: love of God and neighbor. Friday: THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS Hos 11:1, 3-4, 8c-9; Is 12:2-6; Eph 3:8-12, 14-19; Jn 19:31-37 Christ offered himself for us. May his love dwell in our hearts. From his wounded side flowed blood and water, the fountain of salvation for all who believe. Oh the depth of love of Christ who heals and forgives. Saturday: THE IMMACULATE HEART OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY 2 Tm 4:1-8; 1 Sm 2:1, 4-8abcd; Lk 2:41-51 Timothy is exhorted to preach the Word courageously day by day in spite of dangers and trials. Mary kept all these things in her heart. Sunday: TENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Gn 3:9-15; Ps 130:1-8; 2 Cor 4:13 — 5:1; Mk 3:20-35 With the Lord there is mercy and redemption for the reign of sin has come to an end if the person of Jesus. Hence we must never lose heart for we believe we shall be raised with him.

Happy Father’s Day Page 6 Feliz Día del Padre

This past weekend was the beginning of summer with Memorial Day. Thoughts of remembering our deceased as well as parades, bar-b-ques and family time. As the sun grows warm, the graduations from the various schools and colleges wind down, we start to prepare in earnest for the long days of summer. With the thought of Father’s Day in just a week. We have our family fathers, Dads, Pops, Step Dads, Grand-fathers and family and friends that have stepped up to fill big shoes of fatherhood when needed. We honor and celebrate this day. Our parish has been blessed with great fathers For us many are no longer with us, but we can still reflect and be thankful for their contributions to our Parish Life, Growth, to us as indi-viduals and in Spiritual guidance. These men have left their families and dedicated their lives to God and bringing God closer to us in as personal way as they can. Many had big footsteps and softer voices, others had bigger voices but quieter steps. Either way we have been blessed and these men, priests, brothers, pastors are so deserving of recognition on Father’s Day too. This is a partial list of our Blessings:

Este fin de semana pasado fue el comienzo del verano con Día Conmemorativo. Pensamientos de recordar a nuestros difuntos así como desfiles, bar-b-ques y tiempo familiar. A medida que el sol se calienta, las graduaciones de las diversas escuelas y universidades se van calmando, comenzamos a prepararnos en serio para los largos días de verano. Con la idea del Día Tenemos nuestros padres de familia, papás, papás, padrastros, abuelos y familiares y amigos que se han intensificado para ocupar un lugar importante en la paternidad cuando sea necesario. Honramos y celebramos este día. Nuestra parroquia ha sido bendecida con grandes padres Para nosotros, muchos ya no están con nosotros, pero aún podemos reflexionar y estar agradecidos por sus contribuciones a nuestra Vida Parroquial, Crecimiento, a nosotros como individuos y en orientación espiritual. Estos hombres han dejado sus familias y han dedicado sus vidas a Dios y han acercado a Dios de la manera más personal posible. Muchos tienen grandes pasos y voces más suaves, otros tienen más voces pero más pasos silenciosos.
