THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY JUNE 16, 2019
Welcome
To visitors of our Parish, and to those who have recently moved into the area, and to those comfortable and nourished here - Welcome. Regardless of your status in the Church, marital state, your ethnicity, your prior religious experience, your personal history, background, or sexual orientation, we hope that you will continue to worship with us each week.
Our Mission
Our Mission is to be a welcoming community of believers continually growing in our faith and in our love of Jesus Christ through worship, education, evangelization and service within our local and broader community.
June 16 ~ Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
The Most Holy Trinity is a Mystery of our faith, a mys-tery not to solve, but to believe in. Three Persons in One God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. While we can-not fully understand this mystery, we can be confident that the Spirit will guide us to all truth. This week use today’s gospel acclamation in prayer asking for deeper understanding of the mystery of the Trinity: “Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; to God who is, who was, and who is to come.”
Time flies - it has been four weeks since I was sent here to St. Thomas Aquinas! In the seminary, we are trained in four areas (dimensions): Human, Spiritual, Pastoral and Academic formations. As I continue my pastoral training here, if someone were to ask me what I have learned so far, the word that comes to my mind is “love”. I have received the love of the pastor, the parochial vicar, the staff members, the parishioners, and my fellow seminarian. Although I am an international student, I do not feel strange or unfamiliar. I am comfortable and feel at home in this loving family of God.
This Sunday, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. Why do we celebrate the Most Holy Trinity? The love and unity of the three Persons in a single God is just the beginning of the answer. Indeed, God reveals Himself to us through the love between the Father and the Son. That love between them is so deep, so personal, that we call that love the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is an eternal community of love. In this mystery, God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit want us to be in love and union with Him.
How can we grow closer to God’s Love? His love can be understood by first looking at the family. A good father and mother will take care of their children, and the children want their parents to be pleased with them. In the family if each person loves the other members, surely that family has a life full of happiness and joy overcoming all divisions. Love has preserved and united family members to become one. So the inner loving communion in the family partly expresses the Love in the Holy Trinity.
I think of my own family when writing about God’s love. Like many traditional families in Vietnam, my dad works to support my family while my mom spends all her time teaching and caring for us. My sisters and I are nurtured and raised in the love and protection of our parents. My family is not yet a perfect family, but my parents' love for my sister and I helps me to understand and be aware of the love of the Trinity and His plan for us.
My time here at St. Thomas Aquinas has not been long, but it is enough for me to recognize the many wonderful families we have in our parish. I have a good family in the rectory: Father Bill who is caring and understanding and Father Giombetti who brings happiness and laughter to the family through humorous and witty stories. My seminarian brother does not want me to write about him. I understand that we are not wholly complete, but our hope is in the Holy Trinity who makes us perfect, joyful, happy and peaceful.
May Almighty God give us His peace and love. - Hien Vu

A ROUND OF THANK YOU’S!
On June 7th, St. Thomas Aquinas held its annual golf tournament at Olde Scotland Links in Bridgewater. The tournament is one of the parish’s largest fundraisers during the year, and takes a monumental amount of work to plan, set up and execute.
This year, a dedicated group of volunteers and parish staff all worked together to make a beautiful day an amazing event. The sun shone brightly, most of the balls stayed straight, and a grand time was had by all. None of this would have been possible without the hard work of individuals who came together to help the parish, and we cannot thank them enough.
A huge round of “Thank You’s” goes out to: Mary Crealese, who coordinated this awesome event, Ron Hill, Jim Gale, Nick Palmieri, Father Bill, Father Giombetti, Tina Larson and a large number of volunteers who helped to make this event so successful. Aside from a great round of golf, there was a fantastic dinner, raffles, a silent auction and a live auction headlined by a dinner at the rectory prepared by Father Bill himself…(well, maybe with a little help...).
Another huge thank you goes out to all of our sponsors who donated to make the tournament a huge success!
The most amazing part of all of this past week’s festivities was the coming together of so many caring people to support the parish. Nobody cared who won, as long as the parish did. This is what makes our parish so strong and vibrant. People from all walks of life and backgrounds coming together for a common goal and giving of their time, talent and treasure…the common thread that sets St. Thomas Aquinas apart. So once again, thank you to everyone who helped to coordinate this event and made it happen!
And…in case you weren’t able to attend and missed all the fun…we have already booked Olde Scotland Links again for next year, so you all have plenty of time to practice!
Thank you for all you do!

COLLECTING CLEATS FOR UGANDA Through the years, our parish family has demonstrated caring and compassion to so many. Last fall, several parishioners met Prima Ndeka, a woman from Uganda who was here visiting her son Denis, a student at BSU. Prima is the mayor of Rakai and has been active in the support of women and children in Uganda. While here she expressed some of their basic needs. A number of parishioners answered her request providing her with clothing, sporting equipment and other items. Prima is visiting here until July 1 and is hopeful that we might once again be able to assist her. The following items are greatly needed:
lightweight, summer clothing for all ages, baby through adult-used clean or new fleece jackets, clean, used or new sheets - all sizes, clean, used or new towels - clean, used or new Laptops Suitcases large light weight duffle bags to transport these items lightly used soccer cleats lightly used sporting equipment
If you are able to help in any way, bins will be available at both St. Thomas in the lower church and at St. Basil Chapel for donations from June 17th until June 28th. Thank you in advance for anything you are able to donate. For more information, visit https://buzzaround.info/collecting-cleats-for-uganda. If you have any questions, please contact me via email at [email protected].

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
On behalf of the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Teen Mission Group, I would like to thank everyone that has supported this year’s Mission Trip to Charleston South Carolina. Most importantly thank you to all of the St. Thomas Aquinas Parishioners, we could not have done this without your prayers and financial support. It really was a community effort to send these teens on this trip! Finally, we would like to say thank you to all of the parish staff especially Fr. Bill Devine, Fr. Jason Giombetti, Tina Larson and Peter Vitagliano for their continuous support and encouragement.
Please keep our mission group in your prayers as we embark on this life changing journey. We will be leaving at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday June 22nd from the St. Thomas Aquinas church parking lot. Feel free to stop by and wish us well. We can’t wait to come back and share our experiences!
With sincere gratitude, Jennifer Rosher & Teen Missionaries
