Pitt IT has launched the Computer Purchasing andStandardization Program for use by University academicand administrative units. When it’s time to purchase anew PC, simply contact your department’s IT support orpurchasing administrator to buy the appropriate standarddevice through PantherExpress. It can be sent directly toyour home or campus address. Note: Faculty areencouraged, but not required, to participate.

Here's a quick rundown of some of the upgrades we'vemade so far this summer: 

Upgraded My Pitt and Pitt MobileThe new site has a streamlined design optimized formobile, with new features like personalizedbookmarks/collections and the ability todismiss announcements. A modernized Pitt Mobileapp is also available from the Apple or Google appstore.

Virtual Support Now AvailableVirtual Support provides video-based support forissues that are di�cult to resolve via phone, email, orchat. To get started, visit pi.tt/virtualsupport and granta consultant remote access. (Hours: Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-6p.m. and Sat, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.)

PittNet Wi-Fi Network ConsolidationPitt IT has merged the University’s two PittNet Wi-Finetworks. The merger simpli�es connecting to PittNetWi-Fi, while delivering the same speed and reliabilityof the previous networks. The combined network usesthe same Wireless-PittNet name.

Federated Authorization CommunityThis centralized destination enables users to digitallyrequest access to University enterprise systems, likethe Student Information System (PeopleSoft) orGeneral Ledger Mart. It retains all the security andauditing bene�ts of the paper-based process, whileeliminating the need to print and route forms to obtainhandwritten signatures. Access to the FederatedAuthorization Community is available from any device,using almost any web browser.

Pitt is now offering Overleaf professional accounts to allstudents, faculty, and staff. The Overleaf Commonssubscription allows users to harness the full power ofOverleaf, including access to premium features like trackchanges, reference management, branded templates,training assets, and administrative analytics/metrics.

Many users on campus already have accounts forOverleaf’s web-based LaTex editor. They were looking foran easy, more consistent way to bring students andcollaborators into their projects via Overleaf. OverleafCommons allows Pitt IT to deliver professional accountsto new users and enable premium features for those withexisting accounts.
