FOREWORD

This user manual was designed to guide you in the operation of your equipment and its components, as well as to instruct you on safety. It also serves to guide you on operational and maintenance pro-cedures.

Read this manual thoroughly before using this product for the first time, and make sure to take all the necessary safety precautions.

This manual is essential for the process of getting to know your equipment and should be well cared for. It should always be available for your review since it contains instructions starting from the pur-chase to its maintenance and long-term care. Also, at the end, there are instructions on Warranty Terms, Warranty Registration, Technical Delivery and Technical Inspection.

Due to the constant evolution of its products, Stara reserves the right to make changes to the contents of this manual without prior notice.

INTRODUCTION

Dear client, you have just become the privileged user of a software of the highest cutting-edge tech-nology, one that had the direct involvement of rural producers in its development.

Stara Telemetry has arrived on the market with some breakthroughs, such as real-time information regarding application rates when planting, spreading and spraying.

On any Internet accessible device, you can monitor your field operations, receiving a wide range of job-related information such as application maps, ready areas, applied areas, percentage of overlap, field plots, flags, medium speed, locations, and last update.

Stara Telemetry offers excellent agility in decision-making, operator and machine safety, real-time control of farming activities and operations monitoring.

Stara offers its technical assistance services to help you and your local dealer in obtaining the highest possible performance and crop yield.

1 - INTERNET CONNECTION

Stara Telemetry operates through the Topper 5500; thus it needs an Internet connection. This can be achieved in two forms: Wi-Fi and GPRS Modem.

1.1 - Wi-Fi

To connect to a Wi-Fi network, use the following buttons: Menu > System > Internet > Wi-Fi.

If the Wi-Fi Status button indicates that it is off, turn-it-on, then, press the Connect Wi-Fi button. Select the desired Wi-Fi network and enter the password, if you did not previously access the net-work.

Enter the Next button, and enter the Confirm button. Wait a few seconds until the Wi-Fi status changes to Connected. If the Topper 5500 does not connect to the Wi-Fi network, it could mean that the password is incorrect, or the signal strength may be weak. Should this happen, try to get closer to the Wi-Fi signal to complete the setup.

1.2 - GPRS modem

To connect to the Internet using a data package from a phone carrier, firstly you must set up the Top-per 5500 so that they can communicate.

• Antenna with male plug: remove the Topper 5500 from its mount so that you can access its back-side. Next, locate the connector and install the modem antenna until it is firmly mounted on the connector.

• Installing the SIM chip: first, get a SIM card (standard SIM chip is 25x15 mm. Cannot be a micro-SIM or nano-SIM) from your pre-ferred phone carrier, one which has the best coverage for your work area. Verify in your contract with the carrier that the SIM chip re-mains active and functional when transmit-ting data in your area. A good way to check this is to insert the SIM in a smart-phone, and then attempt to access the Internet. To insert the chip on Topper 5500, remove its rear lid.

The Figure 3 shows the Topper 5500 with its rear lid already open, and the place where the SIM card will be inserted.

WARNING!Opening the rear lid should only be done by an authorized dealer-ship. Do not open it on your own. If not, this will cause the warranty to become null and void.

Carefully using your thumbnail or some other device, pull the slot cover to the left and then upward, keeping it open to receive the SIM card.

Insert the chip into the slot, as shown on the Fig-ure 5. Push it in the opposite direction from when it was fi rst opened so that it will lock into place.

Next, close the Topper 5500 rear lid, not forget-ting to install the sealing gasket before tightening the six screws.

WARNING!Stara is not responsible for the In-ternet connectivity signal, which may result in the inability to visu-alize system data. The contracting of Wi-Fi or mobile data networks for data transmission is the sole responsibility of the customer. Additional Wi-Fi network authori-zations may be necessary. Please contact your service provider.

2 - REQUIRED TELEMETRY SUPPORT SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

For using the Stara Telemetry, the following software versions are required:

• Launcher: version 2.7.1 or later;

• 5500 App: version 3.0.0.0 or later.

IMPORTANT!If the Update button is not displaying the Telemetry app version, it means that the file or flash-drive is not being recognized, and the app will not be updated. If there is an existing 5500 App version in the folder, it will be updated when the Update button is pressed. It is recommended that all data be transmitted before the ver-sion is updated.

3 - TOPPER CONFIGURATIONS

3.1 - Topper 5500 menus and configurations

For all available Telemetry options on the Topper 5500 select the following buttons: Menu > System > Internet.

On this menu, the following options are defined, as follows:

• Internet: displays if there is an Internet connection or not. It is updated approximately every sixty seconds.

• Telemetry: checks to see if there is any pending data to be sent. Every two minutes, a new machine location will be stored, and even if the machine is parked, these messages will continue and will be displayed as either Pending or Trans-mitted.

This button also serves as a way to see if the Topper 5500 is transmitting data. To do so, check the number of pending messages and if the number is falling with time.

• Wi-Fi: verifies the Wi-Fi connection current status (if it is in use), along with managing the connection and the IP.

• Mobile network: verifies the current cellular network status (if it is in use). In the Mobile Network menu, you can see the network status and its configurations.

4 - BASIC SERVICE OPERATION

The AmazonService app is an Android service. That means that it has no graphic interface to interact with the user. Its operation is transparent and invisible to the Topper 5500 operator, not needing any additional setup.

In a simplified manner, the app works this manner: every thirty seconds, it checks for data to be sent and tries to communicate with the servers which process and store data. If it cannot transmit data, it will try every thirty seconds again, until it can send it. Once it can, it will continue checking for addition-al data and will try to send it as soon as it is possible, before losing the Internet connection.

The app stores a lot of data, some of which are listed here:

• Geographic positioning, farming implement speed or its status every thirty seconds;

• Job names and some of its statistical data;

• Job data, including application rates, every five minutes;

• Machines used by the Topper 5500, and their respective names.

Additional information will be able to be collected on future versions of this product.

5 - WEB INTERFACE

To access data collected by the Telemetry, you need to go the www.telemetriastara.com.br. Next, the main menus, resources, and features found on the system will be addressed.

5.1 - Responsive design

The Telemetry Stara portal uses this highly innovative technique, where the system tries to adapt itself so that it can be displayed on computers, tablets, and smart-phones of any model or screen size.

Even with this technique, it is not always possible to make the system operate correctly with all devices, due to Internet browsers compatibility or hardware limitations. For the best possible results, we recommend browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari, preferably always use the latest released version.

NOTE!The Internet Explorer 8 or earlier, is not supported.

5.2 - First login and service terms

If you are a client, the dealership will supply you a user login and password to get access. If you are a dealer representative, contact Stara’s after-market sales department to create this information.

Regardless of the user type, immediately after login-in, you will see on the screen a request for you to accept the Telemetry service terms. Carefully read it, and if you agree, press the Accept button on the lower part of the screen, so that you can begin using the system. The service terms can always be updated or consulted in the future by entering the following buttons, User > Terms, found on the upper right side of the main screen.

5.3 - Temporary password

In case you forget your password to access the Telemetry Stara, you can recover system acces-sibility right on the main screen.

Below the Confirm button, press the Forgot my password button. A block to enter your user name will appear. Enter it and press the green button. A temporary password will be sent to your Telemetry registered email (it will be valid for only six hours). With this password, you will be able to login to the system and then login to update your password so that you can maintain your accessibility.

5.4 - Changing information

To change individual user settings such as password, email, telephone, and language, go to the up-per right corner of the menu, follow these steps: User > Configurations. Within this screen, select the desired tab relative to the information needing to be updated.

6 - USER LEVELS

To organize and have information accessibility, Stara Telemetry was designed to have three distinct user levels, some with permissions based on their level. Thus, some information and options de-scribed in this manual may be not available for all users.

7 - MAIN SCREEN

This page contains Stara Telemetry information, being divided into menus, which are addressed in the following items of this manual.

7.1 - Machines menu

On the main screen, press the Machines button to access the Topper controllers available to you. This button represents the current status of the Topper, displaying the current machine to which it is connected, the date, time, and the time of the last update received from the Topper, and its status on this date and hour. The meaning is as follows: working (green), in motion (blue), stopped (red), and off-line (gray). Off-line indicates that the machine is without communication since it sent its last messages more than two hours ago.

On the upper part of the screen, there are three menus which detail the following.

7.1.1 - List machines

It is possible to view general information of your Topper controllers in a table format. To view it in this format, select the machine screen and press the button on the upper right of the screen.

7.1.2 - Grouping

In many cases, the dealership or the client will have various ma-chines on the screen, and will not be able to differentiate one from another quickly. To improve this situation, and also to help with vi-sual recognition, there is a grouping resource. It allows the group-ing of many machines in one box. However, the user deems fit, be it in a fleet format, machines shown in a farm, different types of implements, etc.

To create a grouping, access the Machine screen and press the “+” button on the upper right of the screen. Type in a name for that grouping, and then press and hold the icon of a machine (lower right corner of the rectangles), and drag it onto the newly created grouping. The machine will disappear from the screen and will be displayed inside the grouping.

To remove machines from a grouping or to edit its name, press the gear icon on the lower left corner of the grouping, then press the pencil icon. To remove a grouping, the procedure is similar, except you will need to press the “X” after pressing the gear icon.

7.1.3 - Viewing machines using Google Maps

Machine, track, and route: after pressing on a machine, or a grouping, they will be automatically loaded on Google Maps.

On the upper part of the screen, select the icons you wish to see, like the track or job and also the viewing date.

Click on the machine icon and the track icon to view some informa-tion on selected points of the map.

7.2 - Job menu

On the Job menu, specific job information can be seen, along with machine information, statistics and viewing the job on Google Maps.

Click on the List icon on the upper part to open selection panel, which is to the right, where you can select the machine, field plot and the job dates. Next, click on Load jobs so you can see the exiting jobs available.

Click on the desired job for it to be displayed on the screen.

Click on the Information, Statistics and Map tabs to view detailed information of the selected job.

On the Map tab, you can see the job on Google Maps. On the screen right side, some icons were created to assist the user:

• Full-screen job viewing: click on the Full-screen icon.

• Centralize the job on the screen: click on the Centralize icon.

• Using the zoom: click on the icons “+” to zoom in or “-” to zoom out.

• Select a tank for viewing: click on the arrow above the map.

To view specific information for each map polygon, click on the polygon. A window with information for the selected polygon will be displayed.

7.3 - Notifications menu

In this menu, you can create specific alarms for each machine. Also, you can choose for receiving an SMS to warn you every time a machine is not matching the specifications set when it was inserted.

7.4 - Reports menu

This menu is used for gather macro-information of the machines or jobs performed by the user. It is divided into Job Reports, Product Consumption, and Notification.

7.5 - Quotations menu

This menu allows the user to be connected to the currency conversion values, seeds price, and market quotations. These quotations are searched on third part websites. Stara has no responsibility for the update and assertiveness of these values, once they should only be used as a base value at the moment.

7.6 - Integration menu

This menu is destined for partnerships with other companies. It gives straightforward access to multiple platforms at the same place.
