Minister Van Loan LaunchesFree Trade Talks with India

Diverse CanadaCanadians Donate $46.8Million for Pakistan FloodReliefThe Honourable Beverley

J. Oda, Minister of

International Cooperation,

today announced that

individual Canadians

donated over $46.8 million

for Pakistan ood relief

and that the Government of

Canada has put an equivalent

amount into its Pakistan

Flood Relief Fund.

Once again, Canadians

have demonstrated their

compassion and generosity,

and the government is proud

to partner with them to help

the victims of the oods in

Pakistan, Minister Oda

said. Through the Pakistan

Flood Relief Fund, Canada

will continue to support

the Pakistani people with

emergency aid and early

recovery efforts. Canada

will assist those who are

able to return to their homes

as well as those who remain

in camps. The government

had announced it would

recognize the donations made

by individual Canadians to

eligible Canadian registered

charities up to October 3.

Registered charities had until

October 18 to declare the

amount of eligible donations

they collected for Pakistan

relief. CIDA has already

disbursed $19 million from

the Pakistan Flood Relief

Fund to support logistics

and transport capacity of

the overall humanitarian

response and to deploy

relief items from the CIDA

stockpile (tents, jerrycans,

tarps, hygiene kits, cooksets,

and mosquito nets), aquatabs

for water purication, and

Canadian humanitarian

experts to affected zones.

Allocations from the fund

have also been used to

support agricultural early

recovery activities to ensure

that farmers can recover and

plant during the critical wheat

season currently underway.

Further allocations from

the Pakistan Flood Relief

Fund will support ongoing

humanitarian assistance,

early recovery, and

reconstruction efforts in

Pakistan through projects

undertaken by Canadian and

international humanitarian

and development

organizations responding to

the oods in Pakistan.

Canada-India free trade will

boost economy and create

jobs for Canadians

The Honourable Peter

Van Loan, Minister of

International Trade,

today launched free trade

negotiations with India

during his visit to New Delhi.

At the opening session of

these negotiations, Minister

Van Loan highlighted the

importance of cooperation

and creativity in reaching

a broad and ambitious free

trade agreement.

A Canada-India free trade

agreement has the potential

to boost Canadas economy

by $6 to $15 billion and

increase trade between our

two countries by 50 percent,

said Minister Van Loan

while co-chairing the launch

of negotiations with Indias

Minister of Commerce and

Industry Anand Sharma.

Our government is

committed to building on our

already strong ties with India

to create a partnership that

will lead to new jobs, new

opportunities and stronger

economies for both Canada

and India.

Prime Minister Stephen

Harper and Prime Minister

Manmohan Singh of India

announced the start of free

trade negotiations during the

G-20 Summit in Seoul earlier

this month. That announcement

and last years visit to India

by Prime Minister Harper

underscore the dedication of

both countries to their bilateral

trade relationship.

Todays launch has set a

positive, ambitious tone that

will carry the negotiations to

a successful outcome, said

Minister Van Loan. Free trade

with India is an important

part of our governments

broad free trade agenda of

opening markets for Canadian

businesses and creating new

jobs for Canadian workers.

A recent joint study concluded

that free trade could boost

Canadas economy by $6 to

$15 billion, increase bilateral

trade with India by 50

percent, and directly benet

Canadian sectors ranging

from primary agricultural,

resource-related and

chemical products to

transport equipment,

machinery and equipment,

and services. A free trade

agreement would also help

Canada and India meet a

mutual goal of increasing

bilateral trade to $15

bill ion annually withi n the

next five years.

Over the last four years,

the Harper government

has concluded new trade

agreements with eight

countries and is holding

ongoing negotiations with

close to 50 others. This

includes current free trade

negotiations with the

European Union, Canadas

most significant trade

initiative since the signing

of the North American Free

Trade Agreement.

Fu training session and learnt

the details of her character

but says that the audiences

are going to like her in this

this movie they will get to see

the new side of Claudia where

she is brave and bitter. You

documentary on poverty and

ends up staying back to work

With KHJJS, Ashutosh returns

to his forte. In the past he has

inspirations from the historical

incidents and characters. But

this time it is a true incident

from the Indian freedom

struggle. The Chittagong

uprising of 1930, which

narrates the bravery of a manwho challenged the British and

with his army of 13 year old

kids, shook their reign.

Speaking about his inspiration

for KHJJS, Mr. Gowarikar

added, Swades was adapted to

some extent from a book called

Bapu Kutir by Rajni Bakshi.

Of course, later I adapted

Whats Your Raashee? from

Madhu Ryes novel Kimball

Ravenswood. But whats so

special about Do And Die is

that somewhere I felt much

more responsible, much more

careful. Because the account

in the book itself is so detailed

and so sacrosanct that when

you are making a couple of

changes for the lm, you have

to be very careful. There had

to be the r ight balance betweenthe facts and the spirit. Adding

on Ashutosh said, What

attracted me most about the

book the teenagers. What

was happening in their minds?

What were they going through

when they had participated in

this revolution? How did the

parents allow their 13-year-old

son to go for an armoury raid?

I am thinking, they couldnt

have. So the kids did not even

say at home. They were on

their own. What were they

thinking? How were they

so driven? That means

Surjya Sen had qualit ies

which were inspiring and

goaded them to partake

in the revolution. Hence I

named the film, Khelein

Hum Jee Jaan Sey.

The film will inspire

and touch every Indian

worldwide.

Have you been tested for

cancer in the past 24 months?

Now most people who havent

specically gone for cancer

testing may respond with a

prostate exam or mammogram,

Tahmena Bokhari, a Canadian of Pakistani origin, crownedMrs. United Nations 2010Tahmena Bokhari, Mrs.

Pakistan World 2010 has

made history. On Saturday

November 13th in Negril,

Jamaica, Bokhari was crowned

Mrs. United Nations 2010. She

competed with married women

around the world with strong

representation from Columbia,

Nigeria, West Africa, and

South Africa, among many

others. In the history of the

pageant industry, this is the

rst time Pakistan has won an

international pageant title.

Upon winning Bokhari stated,

I would like to thank all of

those who have supported me

and have worked with me to

improve the image of Pakistan

in the world. Being the rst

international title holder for

Pakistan is not my victory

alone and nor am I solely

responsible for this win. It is

because of you out there, all

of my family, friends, fans,

and all those who have dared

to dream this new vision of

Pakistan along with me. This

is a victory for all Pakistanis

everywhere.

Bokhari opened the evening

with a bang after coming in

the top 5 winners circle for

talent earlier in the week.

Her sensational dance routine

represented the emotions of

a woman to a compilation of

music from around the world.

Bokhari was the rst delegate

to come out in her national

costume made from local

Pakistani fabric in green and

white for the Pakistani ag.

Delegates were judged on poise,

grace, intellect, diplomacy,

passion and commitment to

community service along with

several other areas.

Along with the organizers of

Mrs. Pakistan World, Bokhari

landed in Jamaica on the 8th

and spent a week with the

dozens of delegates from other

countries. During their week,

the delegates visited local

schools, charities and mingled

with fans. Due to her grace,

charm, personality and style

of dress, Bokhari was said to

be an instant favorite. Other

winners of the night included

Miss Canada as Miss United

Nations and Miss Teen Jamaica

as Miss Teen United Nations.

In January of 2010, Bokhari

won Mrs. Pakistan World

2010 in Toronto, ON,

Canada. She has 15 years

experience in social work and

is a college professor in the

Greater Toronto Area. She

is passionate about working

towards a lighter and more

positive image of Pakistan in

the world and enhancing the

status of Pakistani women.

Bokhari stated, I hope to

inspire all women to dream big

and I want to show the world

that only because of the mere

dream of a new Pakistan was

I able to help make history for

my country.

winning the third match by

1-0. India won by an innings

and 198 runs with Harbhajan

Singh contributing two

centuries and one fty his runs

totaled at 351.

It was satisfying to score runs

with the bat but I could have

taken a few more wickets. I

bowled well but the number

of wickets that I got, I feel it

is lower than my standard. I

would have been happy with

Cut the onions intosmall pieces and onefourth of the onionsinto big pieces.

Take a Kadai with lit-

tle oil and add cloves,

cinnamon, elaichi andcashews and then frya little add ginger,garlic and big pieces ofonions and then keepit to cool a little aftereverything is fried.

Then grind the wholemixture with coconutand khus khus and keepit aside.

Now take a little oiland add sombu, andthen onions, fry itnicely.

Take all the vegetablescut into small piecesand boil it in the micro-wave. After everythingis cooked nicely add itto the onions and mix

it.

Add salt in the groundmixture. Now aftereverything is mixedwell add water if it isvery thick.
