Grab Your Journal and sit quietly while you wait for instructions on this.
Don’t forget to write the date and the word Starter at the top of the page.
Also, in your Table of Contents you should put the title “Physical Properties, the date and the page number!
Mystery Person Physical Properties
• Pick one person from the classroom. Do not let them or anyone else know who you are picking.
• In your journal, record at least 7 physical properties of that person.
• Read your list of physical properties to your partner or to the class and see if they can guess who you picked based off of those properties.
Why are physical properties important in identifying things?
• Answer this question in the Starter area of your journal.

Mass- the amount of matter that something is made up of
Luster - the amount of light reflected by an object
State Of Matter - the physical formsin which a substance can exist; states include solid, liquid, gas
Brittle – easily broken or shattered
Ductility – able to be pulled into wires
Malleability – the ability to be rolled or pounded into thin sheets, like aluminum foil
Conductivity – the ability to transfer thermal energy (heat) or electricity
Magnetism – the property of attracting certain metals or producing a magnetic field as shown by a magnet
