Come honor the four Boise State seniors playing their final home match. Pink DayFree admission for fans wearing pink. Join the Broncos in supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month.National Chocolate Cupcake Day Free chocolate cupcake for the first 200 fans.

BRONCO SOCCER PODCAST: Take Bronco soccer with you with the new soccer-specific podcast called ‘From The Spot.’ Every episode is available on iTunes and Soundcloud. Search Boise State Broncos.

SHE’S ON FIRE: Senior Brooke Heidemann has scored in each of the last four games and leads the team with 15 points on the year. Heidemann’s four-match goal streak ties the Boise State record. It is the fifth time a Bronco has scored in four consecutive games and the first since Erica Parks in 2009. The three-time All-Mountain West First Team honoree has scored five goals in six conference matches.

MULTITASKING: Senior Brooke Heidemann had a goal and assist against UNLV (Oct. 9) and two goals at Nevada (Oct. 11). Each game marked the second such performance of Heidemann’s career.

HISTORY ON THE HORIZON: Senior Brooke Heidemann is looking to become just the third student-athlete in Mountain West history to be named first-team all-league four times in women’s soccer. Heidemann looks to join Amanda Feigt (Utah, 2003-06) and Katie Larkin (BYU, 2005-08). Through six conference matches, Heidemann leads the league with 12 points on five goals and two assists. Her five goals tie for the conference lead. She has scored or assisted in five of the team’s six MW games. The 12 points and five goals are the most Heidemann has tallied in conference play during her illustrious career.

HEIDEMANN TAKES POW: Senior Brooke Heidemann was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week Oct. 12, after leading the Broncos to a weekend sweep with seven points on three goals and an assist, including both game-winning goals. It is Heidemann’s first award of the season and third of her career. She is the first Bronco to win a weekly offensive award in three different seasons.

SCORING IN BUNCHES: Boise State netted four goals in 14:32 Oct. 9, against UNLV, including the first three in 5:22. It is the fastest Boise State has scored four goals since scoring four in 7:46 Sept. 9, 2007, against Southern Utah. The Broncos’ three goals in 5:22 toward the end of the first half was the fastest three-goal production since the first three goals of the same stretch against Southern Utah came in a two-minute span.

FISHER SAVES PK: Freshman goalkeeper Tara Fisher made the first start of her career at Fresno State (Oct. 4). Just 90 seconds into the match, Fisher was forced to face a penalty kick. The shot went toward the right post and Fisher dove to make the save. It was the first time since 2008 a Boise State keeper saved a penalty kick, snapping a streak of 10 consecutive PK conversions by opponents. It was already the third penalty Fisher had faced in her career.

FRESHMEN EMERGING: Boise State has scored 20 goals this season, six coming from four different freshmen. Michelle Reed has scored three, while Eva Herrera, Laura Buck and Addison Standlee have one. Buck and Herrera each notched their first tally against Weber State (Sept. 13). Senior Brooke Heidemann has assisted on the first career goal for Buck, Herrera and Reed. Heidemann also assisted on Kayla Tucker’s first career goal in 2013.

MULTI-GOAL MAGIC: Boise State is 22-1-0 under Jim Thomas when scoring multiple goals. The lone blemish came Sept. 13, against Weber State in a 3-2 double-overtime loss. It snapped a 26-match winning streak when the Broncos scored multiple goals. The last time Boise State had scored multiple goals in a loss was a 4-3 double-overtime setback against Montana in the 2011 season opener (Aug. 19). The last time Boise State lost a game in regulation in which it scored multiple goals was Sept. 26, 2010, against Northern Colorado (3-2).

TUCKER TORCHES GAELS: Kayla Tucker had a breakthrough match Sept. 18, at Saint Mary’s. Tucker scored an incredible goal in the 62nd minute and assisted on Baylee Blaser’s game-winning goal in the 106th minute. Head coach Jim Thomas described her left-footed 20-yard line drive under the crossbar as one of the best he’s seen. The three points tied Tucker’s career high and the assist was the 10th of her career, becoming just the seventh Bronco in program history to rack up double-digit assists.

HEIDEMANN’S HELPERS: Senior Brooke Heidemann assisted on both of Boise State’s goals against Weber State (Sept. 13). It is the second multi-assist match of Heidemann’s career. She also posted two assists Oct. 30, 2013, against Air Force. Heidemann is just the fourth Bronco in program history with multiple multi-assist games. Shannon Saxton owns the school record with five multi-asssist matches. Heidemann has a career-best five assists this year, and 11 in her career.

FLORES THE MW POW: Sophomore goalkeeper Janelle Flores was named the Mountain West Defensive Player ofhte Week for games played Aug. 31-Sept. 6. Flores guided the Broncos to a 1-0-1 record against Idaho and Idaho State. She made 11 saves, posting one shutout and a 0.45 goals-against average for the week. She also had a 91.7 save percentage and the lone goal she allowed came on a penalty kick.

OCT. 16 & 18 | VS COLORADO COLLEGE & AIR FORCE

@BroncoSportsSOC

THIRD AWARD FOR FLORES: Janelle Flores earned the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week award Sept. 7, already the third of her career. Flores, just a sophomore, is now tied with Liz Ruiz and Kim Parker for the most career conference defensive player of the week awards in school history. Ruiz and Parker earned all of their honors in the Western Athletic Conference. Shannon Saxton was a four-time WAC Offensive Player of the Week, the only Bronco on either side of the ball with more than three awards.

BRONCOS HAVE AZTECS’ NUMBER: Boise State opened MW play Sept. 25, with a 2-1 win against San Diego State. It was the second consecutive year the Broncos defeated the Aztecs in the regular season, becoming the first MW school to do so since Utah and UNLV both won consecutive regular-season matches against SDSU in 2007 and 2008. Boise State is now 3-3 all-time against the Aztecs, one of only two MW schools (past or present) with an all-time record of .500 or better. Utah is the only school with a winning record against SDSU at 11-5-3.

BRONCO CONQUEST: Boise State’s win at San Diego State Oct. 19, 2014, was its second road win against the Aztecs in as many trips (Oct. 16, 2011). Not an easy feat considering the Broncos were also the last Mountain West team to have won a conference match at SDSU. Since Oct. 31, 2008, Boise State is 2-0-0 at SDSU. The rest of the Mountain West is 1-20-3 in conference matches, including schools no longer in the league. San Diego State has lost just 10 conference home matches since the inception of the MW in 1999.

CONFERENCE OPENERS: Boise State is 5-12-1 all-time in conference openers. Its win against San Diego State is the Broncos’ first win in a conference opener since 2010, their first in the Mountain West opener.

STARTING ON THE ROAD: In the 18-year history of Boise State women’s soccer, 2015 marks just the fifth time the Broncos have their conference opener. This snaps a sixth-year streak of Boise State starting league play on the road. The Broncos last opened their conference slate at home in 2008, and previously did so in 2005, 2001 and 1998.

HOME OPENERS: Boise State is 10-7-1 all-time in home openers. A 2-1 loss against Washington State (Aug. 30), snapped a three-year win streak.

MOVING ON UP: Brooke Heidemann has already set a career high with five assists this season to go with five goals. Heidemann now has 55 career points, ranking No. 3 all-time at Boise State. Her 22 goals are good for third on the career goals scored list. Heidemann’s 11 assists are tied for fourth in Boise State lore.

REED RISES TO CHALLENGE: Freshman forward Michelle Reed became the first Bronco to score the first two goals of a season since 1999, and the first freshman to do so in school history. Reed scored the first goal of her collegiate career against Washington State (Aug. 30). It was Boise State’s first goal of the year. She also scored the next goal, Sept. 4 against Idaho, which turned out to be the first game-winning goal of her career. Ginger Sellick is the only other Bronco to score the first two goals of a season, on her way to eight goals in 1999.

BLASER ON THE BOARD AGAIN: Junior forward Baylee Blaser scored at Idaho State (Sept. 6). It was Blaser’s first goal since 2013, after suffering a season-ending knee injury in the fourth game of 2014. The Boise native scored three goals as a freshman.

BIG CROWD: The Broncos hosted a crowd of 916 fans at Boas Soccer Complex Aug. 30, for the home opener against Washington State. It was the third-largest home attendance in program history and the largest since 2010. The all-time record is 1,223 for the 2009 WAC Tournament title game which saw Boise State beat Nevada and earn its first trip to the NCAA Tournament.

U.S. TOUR: Boise State women’s soccer ventured to uncharted territory to play Samford and Ole MIss. The stops in Alabama and MIssissippi marked the 22nd and 23rd different states in which the program has played.

GETTING ON TARGET: Boise State outshot Washington State in its third match of the year, 14-9, after being held without a shot on goal during the first two matches of the season. It is the first time in school history the Broncos went consecutive games without a shot on goal. They did not attempt a shot against Ole Miss, a first in program history.

SEASON OPENERS: Boise State is 8-9-1 all-time in season openers, including a 0-6-1 mark in season openers on the road. The Broncos began the year with a 2-0 loss at Samford.

WHERE NO BRONCO HAS BEEN: Senior Brooke Heidemann is already the only Bronco to be named to the first-team all-conference three times. The only other player in Boise State women’s soccer history to earn multiple first-team nods is Shannon Saxton (2007 and 2010 in the WAC). Heidemann and Saxton are also the only two Broncos to earn conference freshman of the year honors. Saxton won the award in the WAC in 2007, while Heidemann earned the MW honor in 2012. Brittany Zoellner remains the only Bronco to earn conference player of the year honors, taking home the 2000 Big West MVP award.

BOISE STATE SOCCER NOTESBEST WEEK EVER: Boise State junior Brooke Heidemann was named NSCAA National Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 7. It is the first national player of the week award bestowed on a Bronco in program history. Heidemann tallied seven points to lead Boise State to victories against in-state rivals Idaho and Idaho State. She scored the game winning goal at Idaho, before turning in a career-best five points against Idaho State. Heidemann recorded the first multi-goal game of her career while also assisting on the game winner. She scored her three goals on just five shots. Heidemann was also named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career.

POINTS ON POINTS ON POINTS: Brooke Heidemann turned in one of the most prolific individual seasons in school history in 2013. Heidemann scored 21 points on nine goals and three assists as a sophomore. It is the fifth-most points scored in a season in program history and the most since 2007.

NOT OUT OF NOWHERE: Brooke Heidemann’s 21-point sophomore season came after scoring just four points as a freshman. However, Heidemann surged at the end of the 2012 season, garnering enough attention to be named MW Freshman of the Year. The late success set her up for a consistent sophomore season.

HEROIC HEIDEMANN: Brooke Heidemann became the first Boise State field player to appear at goalkeeper when she took on an emergency role against Utah Valley last season (Aug. 31). Heidemann played the final 21:22 between the pipes, including both overtime periods, after Bailey Anderson was injured as the result of a red card. Anderson’s departure left Boise State without a healthy keeper. Heidemann, a three-time all-conference midfielder, kept the Wolverines off the scoreboard for the remainder of the match and helped Boise State to a 1-1 draw. Heidemann assisted on the game-tying goal just three minutes before taking over at goalie.Coach Thomas on Heidemann... “Brooke is the epitome of what a Bronco is. This is a team full of girls willing to give everything they have for the team. Brooke is at the top of that list and nothing says that more than jumping in goal in a tie game because that’s what we needed. I looked her dead in the eye and asked her what she thought. Brooke looked me right back and said `I’ve got you.’”

WHO’S BACK?: Boise State returns nine starters from last season, including first-team All-Mountain West selection Brooke Heidemann. The team leader in goals and points each of the last two seasons, Heidemann is out to lead the Broncos to new heights as a senior. Janelle Flores returns after posting the best season in school history by a freshman goalkeeper. Kayla Tucker and Dani Brown will continue to add firepower at the top of the attack, while Hailey DeVries and Jessie Vogel are expected to hold down the back line.

WHO’S GONE?: The Broncos lost two seniors from a year ago. Mikhaila Bowden and Shannon Schueren were two of the most accomplished players in school history. Bowden left as the all-time leader in minutes played and matches started. She was a first-team All-MW selection as a senior. Schueren racked up 41 points and 17 goals in her career, both good for No. 3 all-time in program history.

WHO’S NEW?: There are nine new Broncos on the roster for 2015, including eight freshmen and one transfer. Allegra Weeks got a jump start on the rest of the freshmen as she graduated high school early and enrolled at Boise State in January. A number of classmates have stood out during preseason training, including Laura Buck who scored three goals and added an assist in the team’s final intrasquad scrimmage.

FLORES FLOURISHING: Sophomroe Goalkeeper Janelle Flores recorded six shutouts last year, the second most in a season in school history and the most by a freshman. Flores ranked 57th in the NCAA in save percentage at .827 She led the Mountain West in save percentage, ranked second with a 0.95 goals-against average and was third in saves per game (4.5).

SHUTOUT STREAK: Goalkeeper Janelle Flores and the Boise State defense closed the regular season strong. The Broncos put together a shutout streak of 433:42 that spanned the final six games, including four shutouts. It was the second-longest shutout streak in school history. Flores also did not allow a goal for the first 295:20 of her career.

BAD, BAD DANI BROWN: Sophomore forward Dani Brown has already proven to be one of the Broncos’ top options with the game on the line. As a freshman, Brown scored four times, including a team-high three game-winning tallies- all coming in conference play. Long lauded by the coaching staff for being “predatory” around the net, Brown scored two rebound goals and finished from 15 yards for the lone tally against Utah State to send the Broncos to the tournament. Brown’s three game-winning goals tied for the sixth most in a single season. The record is four, accomplished five times. She is already tied for 12th on the career list.

FLORES POW X 2: Goalkeeper Janelle Flores was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week twice last year as a fresman. Flores became the first Bronco to earn multiple conference defensive POW honors in a single season. She earned the award following the first and final weeks of the regular season. Flores did not allow a goal in 135 minutes of action across two starts at the PSU Tournament to start her career. She recorded a shutout against Drake, in the first match of her collegiate career after becoming the first Boise State true freshman to start a game at keeper since Liz Ruiz in 2008 and the first to start a season opener since Kim Parker in 2003. Against Portland State, Flores started and played the first half. She blanked the Vikings for 45 minutes, making two saves, and allowing the Broncos to take a 1-0 lead into intermission. It maked the seventh-straight season a Bronco keeper earned the award.

STRONG DEBUT: Freshman goalkeeper Janelle Flores became the first Boise State true freshman to start a season opener at keeper since Kim Parker in 2003. Flores impressed immediately, recording a shutout in her first collegiate match. She orchestrated a Bronco defense that allowed Drake to take just one shot, none on target.

DOUBLE DOUBLE: Juniors Brooke Heidemann and KT Clayton each scored two goals against Idaho State (Sept. 7). It is the first time two Broncos have scored multiple goals in the same match since Oct. 8, 2010, against New Mexico State (Shannon Saxton and Cheyenne Jones).

LIMITING OPPORTUNITIES: Twice last season Boise State held opponents to just one shot attempt. Prior to 2014, only one time had the Broncos limited an opposing team to one shot in program history (Sept. 9, 2009, against Arkansas Pine-Bluff). Drake attempted just one shot in the season opener (Aug. 22). A cross in the 48th minute was flicked toward goal, but never threatened the net falling short and wide. Fresno State (Oct. 10) took just one shot, coming in the 49th minute. A scrum in the box resulted in a Bulldog taking an off-balance swing at a loose ball that was blocked and ricocheted out of harm’s way. An own goal conceded by the Broncos was the only shot on goal for the Bulldogs in the match, though it does not count as a shot attempt. The match against Drake was the fourth time in school history the Broncos did not face a shot on goal.

STRONG DEBUT PART II: Sophomroe midfielder Sarah Taylor made her collegiate debut last year in the season opener against Drake. Taylor scored in the 85th minute, just 13 minutes after entering the match for the first time. She became the first Bronco freshman to score in a season opener since Chelsea Robinson in 2008.

EARLY STRIKES: In Boise State’s matches against Idaho and Idaho State last season, the Broncos scored early and often. Each game saw Boise State get out to a 2-0 lead in the first 20 minutes. Boise State scored two goals in the first 12 minutes at Idaho (Sept. 5). Brooke Heidemann scored in the fifth minute and Shannon Schueren added a goal in the 12th minute. It is the first time Boise State put two goals on the board by the 12-minute mark since Sept. 21, 2007, at Oregon State. They almost duplicated the feat against Idaho State (Sept. 7) with Heidemann scoring in the 15th minute and assisting on KT Clayton’s goal in the 19th.
