The correlation between Literacy Speaks!® implementing tools and the Literacy Speaks!® progressive learning steps follows.

Literacy Speaks!® Alphabetic Letter Cards ~ By isolating letters, children learn to recognize letters by sight. Then, the sound of the letter is introduced. This method enables the child to quickly learn sound-letter correlations.

Literacy Speaks!® Target Stimulus Word Cards ~ Incorporation of the target letter/sound into words facilitates identification of the letter within printed text and establishes pronunciation of the sound in targeted words.

First, a segmented word approach is introduced.

Literacy Speaks!® kits contain two easy-to-manage pieces: 1 spiral-bound notebook and 1 card box. The sturdy card box is indexed by letter/sound and color coded. The color coding is repeated on the cards to enable effective use and storage.

The majority of the Literacy Speaks!® implementing tools are contained in both a spiral-bound notebook and on a CD. The implementing tools can be reproduced with a photocopier or printed from the CD.

Literacy Speaks!® is a systematic program that utilizes evidenced-based techniques.

Literacy Speaks!® is used by educators, speech-language pathologists and parents. Preschool through early elementary school children, children with special needs, and children with communication disorders benefit with Literacy Speaks!®. Family involvement carries Literacy Speaks!® concepts into the home environment.

Early intervention, utilizing the Literacy Speaks!® natural “letters to literacy” learning steps and implementing tools, activates the orthographic processor with printed cues, improves speech intelligibility and develops language and literacy skills.
