WHO IS INGENIUM?

Ingenium’s core business specializes in the packaging, transportation and disposal of hazardous, non-hazardous, biological, universal and radioactive waste. We focus our efforts on delivering innovative and sustainable approaches to the recycling of waste materials in lieu of traditional waste treatment methods. We are constantly researching the industry’s landscape to discover alternatives that not only reduce the reliance on landfill, but also conserve resources and support energy needs. Step into the future of waste management by partnering with Ingenium to create a more sustainable world.

HISTORY

Ingenium was started in 2006 by Heather Johnson, CEO; Gary Lundstedt, CFO; Mike Johnson, COO; Ken Aghjayan, CIO; and Scott Rendleman, CCO. The partners founded Ingenium with the dual goal of offering sustainable recycling methods to an otherwise traditional hazardous waste environment along with a commitment to be an accountable partner to our clients. Ingenium opened its doors with two operational ten-day transfer facilities; one in Escondido and one in San Jose, which covered northern and southern California. In 2012, Ingenium expanded into the Pacific Northwest and opened a third ten-day transfer station in Kent, WA. Based on our business growth and customer demand, a fourth ten-day transfer location was added in Sacramento, CA, in March of 2017 and in January of 2019, our Portland location was opened. Together, Ingenium offers full coverage of all West Coast waste management needs. In addition, Ingenium has a vast network of waste management partnerships throughout the country to assist with national demands. Ingenium has been recognized by the San Diego Business Journal as one of the Fastest Growing Private Companies for seven years, by INC Magazine as one of the 500 Fastest Growing Companies for the past several years, and the San Diego Business Journal has named Ingenium one of the Top Private Companies and Largest Private Companies in the San Diego area. Our long history of providing clients with innovative, sustainable solutions coupled with our exceptional customer service, educated and knowledgeable workforce and our unwavering commitment to excellence has allowed Ingenium to define its reputation as a leader in the waste management industry.

WHAT MAKES INGENIUM DIFFERENT?

Outlined below are some details surrounding our service offerings, communications and affiliations at Ingenium. Each highlighted service demonstrates our unique approach and the benefits your organization can derive from our innovative methods. Hazardous Waste Ingenium provides waste characterization, profiling, packaging, labeling, transportation and disposal services to its customers. Our strength lies in our consultative, upstream approach to each profile and waste stream. We perform an intense evaluation on all aspects of every waste profile and accept nothing at face value. This evaluation provides us the knowledge to leverage our network of treatment facilities, technologies and alternative options to present our clients with the most sustainable, measurable and cost-effective solutions. Lab Packs Ingenium’s hazardous waste lab packing program features an immensely efficient group that provides a safe and accountable lab packing service solution. Our approach differs through our communication and our ingenuity. We shine at accurately conveying timelines, labor expectations and pricing transparency. Our lab pack chemists also rely on their regulatory experience, smart segregation, unique packaging and consolidation methods to deliver the most cost-effective and balanced solution. Recycling & Reuse In addition to the traditional hazardous waste treatment solutions, Ingenium also offers a strong network of distillation and reclaim program opportunities. Our approach begins with identifying the value that exists within your waste and materials, including the potential for reuse of your own recycled materials. These programs result in significant savings, reduced cost on virgin materials and recycling prominence. In qualifying cases, we also offer the ability to align with reduction initiatives by removing a stream entirely from the waste management realm.

Waste-To-Energy Programs Ingenium also offers a variety of containerized and bulk solutions in the waste-to-energy arena. We hold a strong bond with waste-to-energy facilities throughout the country and understand the intricacies of their operational capabilities. We have experienced tremendous success converting non-RCRA and non-hazardous state regulated wastes energy, thereby significantly contributing to our clients’ sustainability goals and initiatives. Interactive Waste Data Portal As an added value to our clients, Ingenium offers Insight, a robust portal system that provides our customer-base a user-friendly digital avenue to quickly obtain final shipping documents, profiles, land disposal restrictions and various certificates of recycling or disposal/destruction. Our portal system also provides a meticulous summary of shipment data and calendar tracking both in a visual dashboard environment and through an itemized export-ready document solution. If you happen to manage multiple locations, our system is designed to simplify your data management. Waste reporting has never been so easy. Communication Inquiry is Ingenium’s online ticketing system that allows customers to ask questions, schedule a service or provide feedback about our services with a few easy clicks. Our goal with Inquiry is to provide you with an enhanced customer experience with better visibility on your requests. While we’re adding technology to our customer service toolkit, we want to ensure you that your requests will still be personally looked after by your dedicated Customer Service Representative. Medical Waste As a complement to our hazardous waste programs, Ingenium has been managing regulated medical waste, sharps, pathological, pharmaceutical and chemotherapy wastes since our inception. We distinguish ourselves through a subset of exclusive sustainable programs below that depart from the traditional treatment methods of autoclaving and incineration. Our programs further assist with the promotion of sustainability in the medical waste and non-infectious-related territories. Bio-Inergy Ingenium’s Bio-Inergy program provides generators of regulated medical waste the option of choosing a sustainable alternative to traditional treatments and reduces your organization’s carbon footprint by avoiding out-of-state incineration. Through this process, red bag medical waste is rendered into solid trash utilizing state-approved technology. The solid waste is then converted into energy and put back onto the electrical grid. The good news is that the day-to-day process of managing your regulated medical waste on-site will remain intact, but the benefit of measurable and sustainable results begins with the first shipment. Emerald Energy Until Ingenium’s Emerald Energy program came to fruition in 2010, the choices for medical solid waste alternatives were either severely limited or resulted in cost-prohibitive incineration. Despite its non-hazardous properties, many organizations do not want to mix these waste materials with facilities trash. This program is designed to assist generators with the management of certified, non-infectious debris/materials generated in the laboratory research and manufacturing process. Other benefits include reduced cost and liability, less reporting and tracking, extended storage time and potential reclassification to a lesser waste generator status. Simply stated, our program offers a convenient medical solid waste alternative in a cost-neutral manner as compared to traditional waste management options.

6

Universal Waste As part of our service to our hazardous waste clients, Ingenium provides solutions for the management of universal waste. Our program is designed to recycle all types of universal wastes. From batteries to lamps, ballasts to electronic waste, we have it covered. Ingenium will only partner with R2/RIOS providers who are dedicated to decreasing the amount of materials sent to landfills and protecting the health and safety of the public. Radioactive and Mixed Wastes Ingenium’s radioactive and mixed waste program has also been a foundational service offering. Our radioactive program encompasses waste characterization assistance, activity monitoring, petitions, permits, manifest preparations, labeling, packaging, transportation and disposal management services. Ingenium possesses its own radioactive waste license and routinely conducts our own internal audits and is subject to external regulatory inspections. Our radiation safety officers take tremendous pride in operating a safe, accountable, accurate and cost-efficient radioactive program. On-Site Services Our full-service offering includes a team dedicated to managing your on-site needs. From laboratory decontamination to industrial tank cleaning, we work with you to customize a plan that fits your timeline and project objectives. We utilize a vast array of specialized equipment to meet the specific needs of each project and oversee every aspect from start to finish. Zero Waste Initiatives In support of Ingenium’s mission, we are proud to offer a consultative program to assist your organization to achieve Zero Waste Certification. Whether your organization generates food, plastics, foams, cardboard, wood, metals or the like, Ingenium’s Zero Waste Team will walk you through a gradual and consistent plan tailored to your organizational needs. Even if Zero Waste Certification may be a long-term goal, allow Ingenium to introduce our interactive program to you in support of landfill diversion initiatives. The impact of any step towards sustainability not only benefits your organization but supports our world. Technician Support Services Ingenium provides a comprehensive technician support group. We have a rigorously trained staff of project leads, chemists and technicians available to aid with waste consolidation, on-site management, inventory oversight, inspections and related site requirements available. Our superior communication is what distinguishes this group. We work closely with project leaders and HSE/EH&S managers to create site-specific operating procedures, develop performance indicators and constantly evaluate. Our team excels at reviewing processes, identifying inefficiencies, providing feedback and recommending effective adjustments and solutions. Whether you need two hours per week or a full-time team, we are happy to accommodate your needs. Orphan Chemical Since 2009, Ingenium has been operating its Orphan Chemical program with excellent results. This program offers our clients the ability to transfer title to hazardous chemicals, industrial products and otherwise useful, non-expired materials to another organization in need. In the past, surplus hazardous materials were traditionally disposed of as wastes. Our program provides a more sustainable option by enabling a qualifying surplus product to be offered to our network of recipients, and then subsequently packaged and transferred in one-seamless transaction. Ingenium has a substantial history of customizing an Orphan Chemical program that offers a reuse alternative to disposing of otherwise legitimate products.
