STAYING SAFE, HAPPY AND PRODUCTIVE WHILE IN QUARANTINEAs officials worldwide recommend – and increasingly mandate – that we quarantine during the COVID-19 outbreak, many questions arise. How can we maximize security? How can we minimize lifestyle disruption?
In this infographic, we provide some useful tips for general use. For those who need professional executive protection services, AS Solution provides additional options through bespoke residential security and personal protection programs.
SET UP TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
• Know how to get yourself and loved ones to a hospital or another safe area if needed
• Must have: A car and a driver – either on hand or on call
• Nice to have: A disinfected car and a driver within the inside bubble – and a fall back option on call
STAY PRODUCTIVE AND AT LEAST FAIRLY HAPPY
• Be sure you can work/go to school/stay in touch/find entertainment remotely, from within the inside bubble
• Must have: A reliable internet connection and access to reliable news (CDC, WHO, local authorities) agreements with workplaces and schools,
• Nice to have: The above, TV streaming services, and at least a few more entertainment options
ESTABLISH THE OUTSIDE BUBBLE
• Typically, a fenced yard or property line: Access is limited to those with a reason to be there, even though they might be infected, including delivery and service people
• Must have: Secure the outside bubble as best you can with available resources, e.g., fences, hedges, walls
• Nice to have: The above and CCTV cameras, perimeter alarms
ESTABLISH THE INSIDE BUBBLE
• Typically, a house or apartment interior: Access is limited to those you know are not infected and those you have agreed to let in anyway
• Deliveries are always left outside the inner bubble (outside; in a garage with remote-controlled door, in a hallway/vestibule) where they can be wiped clean with disinfectant
• Must have: Designated delivery area with disinfectants; good locks on all doors and windows; any other reinforcements possible with available resources
• Nice to have: A reliable alarm system, reinforced doors, smash-proof windows, safe room(s) with further protection
UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SELF-QUARANTINE, QUARANTINE, AND ISOLATION
Exposure to virus Why How long
Self-quarantine: (aka “shelter in place” or “stay at home”)
No (or not yet) Protect self and others from contagion
14 days from (suspected) exposure to virus – or as long as warranted/required
Quarantine: Yes (or suspected) Protect others from contagion
14 days from (suspected) exposure to virus
Isolation: Yes, and sick Protect others from contagion
Until no longer sick – plus 2 days
LAY IN FOOD AND SURVIVAL GEAR – AND KNOW HOW TO GET MORE
• Have on hand enough frozen/dry/canned food and basics for 2 weeks
• There’s no reason to hoard (and plenty of reasons not to); if you can’t leave to go shopping, arrange for delivery
• Must have: Food, water, toiletry basics; first aid kit, flashlight, transistor radio, batteries, disinfectants for hands and surfaces
• Nice to have: The above; water filter; emergency generator

STAYING SAFE IN THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK
COVID-19:
HOW TO STAY SAFE
• The virus spreads primarily via respiratory drop-
lets when an infected person sneezes or coughs
• Droplets spread mainly from person to person
(if they cough or sneeze within 2 m/6 ft of you;
by shaking hands with them; by sharing a drink
with them) but also from a person to an object
(especially often-used things with hard surfaces,
e.g., door handles, handrails, etc.) and then to
another person who touches that object and then
his/her mouth/eyes/nose
• The virus survives on a surface for up to a few
days and possibly longer. Cleaning surfaces with
disinfectants (ethanol 62-71%; hydrogen
peroxide 0.5%; or sodium hypochlorite, bleach)
– is believed to inactivate the virus within
1 minute
• CDC estimates incubation time (from exposure
to the virus to showing symptoms) between
2 – 14 days
• Doctors believe that people who are most sick
with the virus are most likely to spread it, but
that people who show no symptoms may also
spread it
• Wash and/or disinfect your hands frequently
• Wash your hands often and carefully with soap
& water for at least 20 sec.
• Wash hands when visibly dirty; after toilet use;
after sneezing; before/during/after food
preparation; after having been in public
• Contact your doctor immediately if you show
symptoms and believe you might be infected
• Recommendations vary by country/region, so be
sure to know what local authorities recommend.
In many places, people who might be infected
are asked NOT to come directly to a clinic or
pharmacy, but to call instead, in order to prevent
the possibility of further contamination.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick
– droplets from coughs and sneezes spread
within 2 m/6 ft.
• Avoid traveling to areas where the virus is
known to have spread
• Respect quarantine rules where they apply
• Follow local authorities’ recommendations
regarding public gatherings
• Cough or sneeze into a Kleenex
and then discard
• If no Kleenex, cough or sneeze
into your elbow/sleeve
• Keep your fi ngers out of your eyes,
nose, mouth – and in general away
from your face
• If you must touch eyes, nose,
mouth with fi ngers, do so only
after carefully washing or
disinfecting your hands
Know what your national/regional/
local health authorities recom-
mend and follow their advice
– concerning both the COVID-19
situation in your area, travel to
other areas, closures, large public
gatherings, etc.
