English scientist Sir Francis Galton first classified the u n i q u e a n d p e r s o n a l patterns of the human fingerprint. Galton noted nine common designs in fingerprints, though each fingerprint is distinctly different. Another English

scientist, Sir Edward R. Henry, further developed the Galton’s’ work in 1900 to create the method Scotland Yard still uses today to identify criminal’s fingerprints.

Although no two fingerprints are alike, every sanctified believer leaves the same mark. As a Christian grows to be more like Christ, he leaves less evidence of himself, and more of Christ everywhere he goes. When others look at our lives, which do they see: Jesus Christ or us. May every fingerprint we leave behind bear the mark of the Cross of Calvary!

James concludes his letter with still more evidences of real, living faith. Believers live life dependent upon God, relying upon Him to meet our needs. Bragging about how much we can accomplish in a day, of our own strength is evil (James 4:16). The Christian should know better. James reminds us, when we know to do right, yet choose to do wrong, this is sin! (James 4:17) Why would a person choose to do wrong, even though he knows to do right? The answer is simple. This person chooses to wrong because this person depends upon themselves, as though they know better than God does. The Doer is a sanctified believer that relies upon God for strength to do right.

Another evidence of this real, living faith deals

with Christ’s soon return. James warns us to be patient, and be ready because Christ’s return draws near (James 5:8). In fact, we don’t have time to hold grudges against others (James 5:9). The Doer is a sanctified believer that looks and prepares for Christ’s return.

Real, living faith exercises a healthy prayer life. James commands us to pray for each other. God promises to hear the prayer of the righteous (Proverbs 15:29). When and how often should we pray? We should pray continually and sincerely (James 5:17). The prayer life of the prophet Elijah shows us the incredible power of prayer! The Doer is a sanctified believer who prays rightly, sincerely, and passionately.

Please understand this truth. Real, living faith is an active faith concerned for others. When

another believer falls into error or sin, the sanctified believer should go to that brother to help rescue that brother from his sin (James 5:19-20). We are not to participate in that sin along

with that brother. Remember we are to be separate from the world, set apart to God, holy. Do you encourage other believers to sin or to righteousness? The Doer is a sanctified believer who always encourages others to live right!

Our investigation now draws to a close. Have you gathered enough evidence to solve the case of the looking glass and the Law? The Doer is a believer that knows who he is and what he must do, and doesn’t stop until he has fully surrendered his life to Christ. God desires Christians to live separate, righteous lives. Let’s remove our worldly influences that draw us away from God and seek the life of a sanctified believer. —BR
