Sufficient number of qualified STEM graduates

Malaysian government instituted the 60:40 Science/Technical: Arts (60:40) Policy in education in 1967 and started implementing it in 1970

The target not achieved.

45% Science stream + technical & vocational, 2014.

Met the requirement but chose not to do science in the upper secondary increased to 15%.

Blended Learning Open Source for Science or Mathematics Studies (BLOSSOMS)

Integration of face-to-face and ICT instruction

Deploys new instructional strategies and pedagogical approaches

Students utilize adaptive learning software to learn at their own pace, and through their preferred learning style

Teachers then analyse the resultant data from the software to identify areas where students require extra coaching

Educate the public about the diversity of career opportunities in STEM

STEM education plays a big role as the catalyst to meet the challenges and demands of our present and future economy

Building on the STEM foundations that was implemented in Wave 1

The roll-out of the KSSM (Secondary School Standard Curricula) and revised KSSR (Primary School Standard Curricula)

From 2019 onwards, the Ministry intends to participate in the Grade 4 TIMSS assessment in addition to the Grade 8.

Development of VLE.

Teachers share their experiences in teaching the new curriculum, learn from each other and provide feedback to the Ministry.
