Happy Show Your Life, Save a Life Month! How has your semester been going so far? I just began the Speech-Language Pathology graduate program at St. John’s University and although I am still getting adjusted, I know that February will fly by. Use the Show Your Love, Save a Life campaign, Kiwanis Pediatric Lyme Disease Awareness Week running from 2/3/14 to 2/9/14, the countdown to District Convention, and all other events this month as vehicles to keep yourselves energized and motivated to do more. As you are awaiting your club’s projects for the remainder of the year, remember to enjoy each service project, each meeting, and each moment spent with your club. While the service year is coming to an end, the need for servant-leaders like you never comes to an end. I would also like to invite everyone to this year’s District Convention (DCON). At DCON, you will have the chance to celebrate the year with members from all over New York.
Whether you’ve attended NYCKI conventions in the past or not, I promise that you will leave with inspiration. You will have even more knowledge on CKI and on how you can do more for your club and for your communities. If you are considering on running or applying for a Club Officer or District Officer position, DCON is the perfect place to help you make a decision. DCON back in Key Club is where I fell in love with the organization and my goal is to share that feeling and opportunity to you, the members of the greatest district out there!

On January 31, 2014 and February 1, 2014, I had the chance to be a cast member in Adelphi Circle K’s annual Murder Mystery dinner. I attended meetings and rehearsals prior to the event and was amazed by all the work that was put into the event. They spent hundreds of hours promoting the event, creating decorations, creating pieces of evidence for the event, writing the script, and rehearsing for the big day.
This year’s murder mystery’s theme was a fairy tale. The photo on the left shows the three princess’ on the top and the ladies-in-waiting on the bottom (I was Lady Evelyn).
Adelphi Circle K held three shows: Friday night for Adelphi students, Saturday afternoon for friends and family, and Saturday evening for members of the Kiwanis Family. They had a great turnout and raised over $4,000 between all three shows. This means that they saved over 2,222 lives through The Eliminate Project! Everyone had a great time putting together all the clues to find out who the murderer was. I have attended each murder mystery that the club has hosted so far and I can’t wait for next year’s show!
