Safety Training Plan (STP) idea

Idea

Build a Safety Training Plan (STP) tool that enables supervisors to create safety training plans for field personnel that provide a guidance of critical safety training gaps.

Safety Training Plan (STP) Design

IT group built an application using ASP.net C# with an ORACLE backend. The IT application ties two databases and safety training requirements questions together to form a simple looking application to the end users.

Two databases:1. Employee information from the SAP database daily 2. Employee safety training record completions loaded

weekly from the Learning Management System (LMS)

Dynamic designSTP tool is dynamic by design. All databases are updated continually and supervisors can edit questions as tasks and responsibilities change.

New hires The on boarding process of new employees include building a safety training plan.

FlexibleSTP plans are tied to the employees and move with employees as they move to new positions.


Create or Update a STP plan

Supervisors type STP their browser (We have single sign on set up) no login You click on the action to Create a STP plan or update a plan. Remember you have to create a plan before you update a plan. Once you create a plan for an employee then you can update a plan. Note: These employees STP plans stay with the employee and ties directly to them through there employee ID, if an employee changes position or move to another location the plans will follow them to the new supervisor.

STP emails a zip file for each EE to supervisor

The supervisor receive a email with a zip file of all the plans they just created. Note they do not have to save these as the STP tool allows they to go back and pull up them at any time.

Highlights of tool

STP tool was built using existing data bases feeds into an and IT ASP.net C# with an ORACLE backend.

Supervisor requires only about 30 minutes to create Safety training plans and less time to update.

STP tool reports provide direct feedback to area supervisors on safety training requirements.

Regional reports provide real time tracking of all safety related training (budgets and compliance).


STP tool activity

• STP currently rolled out to three of the four regions - should have 4th by end of year.

• STP plans will be updated annually by supervisors or when responsibilities change.

• STP plans are being implemented into the on boarding of new employees to capture new employees day one.

• Currently working on building STP plans for Engineering and CTS (data centers)

• Adding new functions like highlighting refresher training gaps on STP plans (Orange)
