Dear Parents, Summer is here and school is out, but that does not mean the learning ends! Did you realize that school age children could loose up to 3 months of learning over the summer if they don’t spend time reading? Keeping students’ minds busy will make the transition to the new school year in September easier. Studies show that when a child reads as few as 6 books, s/he is likely to fend off summer reading loss and maintain the reading gains made during the previous school year. Not to mention the gain in adventure, new discoveries, and fun that a stack of kid-picked summer books can provide. For this summer’s reading program we will be asking families to document the books that your student ready by writing them down on a chart. A template can be found on the next page. You can encourage your student’s comprehension by asking questions about the book they are reading. To participate in the reading celebration in September, students must:

• Read 10 books (grade K-3) or a minimum of 400 pages (grades 4-8) at their reading level • Turn their reading list into Mrs. B no later than Wednesday, September 12th.

The celebration will take place on Friday, September 14th. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact Mrs. B. Have a wonderful summer! Happy Reading, Mrs. B [email protected] 541-344-1401 ext. 105

ST. PAUL PARISH SCHOOL DRESS CODE

Philosophy St. Paul Parish School’s dress code is an extension of the mission of the school. It is driven by the belief that appropriate attire facilitates the school’s educational mission and displays an image of personal pride. The St. Paul Parish School Advisory Council and St. Paul Parish School Staff expect active and positive parental support. The principal is given discretion for interpreting dress code policy.

School attire should be clean, neat, and modest at all times. Logos that are less than a 2”x 2” in size will be allowed on clothing.
