St. Marys Church 95 North Main Street St. Bridgets Church 15 Church Street Striving to know, love, and serve God in all others. This reading is a foundational one. Our hearts must be burning for Christ. This is that warm and wonderful feeling that we have from time to time – it is not dissimilar from the burning of a heart full of love. In fact, that is what it is. It is so easy to fall into a pattern of behavior that may look healthy, but is devoid of this love warmth described here. We can come to Church on Sunday, receive Our Blessed Lord, say our prayers, follow all observances, etc. – All are good and still be fitting our lives to a pattern rather than deepening our relationship with someone we love. We do all things as Catholics in order to become closer to God – and our hearts burn within us for him. If our hearts grow cold in our observances, what good are they? Does our current challenge bring you into an awareness of this? Does the absence of liturgy of Holy Communion make you aware of its wonder? Do you live out Communion in solidarity strongly, even though we are not able to receive it Sacramentally? Is your desire for him and your joy for what you have been given the center of your life? Do you long to return to say thank you in worship? In these days remember these things. You are not alone. You have been made beautiful. You have even been more wonderfully restored. Let restoration wash over you. Let your light shine. Worry about nothing. Be frightened of nothing – God alone, alone remains with us. Doesnt your heart burn in warmth and comfort from this idea? There is nothing else we need. Your servant in Our Blessed Lord, Fr. Michael

Striving to know, love, and serve God in all others.

Doesn’t your heart burn in warmth and comfort from this idea? There is nothing else we need.

Your servant in Our Blessed Lord,

    Fr. Michael

    Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above

all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment re-ceive You sacramentally, come at least spir-

itually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself

wholly to You. Never permit me to be sepa-rated from You. Amen

What Should I do if I Can’t go to Mass? Catholics are encouraged to make a ‘spiritual communion’. St. John Paul II writes that “it is good to cultivate in our hearts a constant desire for the sacrament of the Eucharist. This was the origin of the practice of ‘spiritual communion’, which has happily been established in the Church for centuries and rec-ommended by saints who were masters of the spiritual life. Saint Teresa of Jesus wrote: ‘When you do not receive com-munion and you do not attend Mass, you can make a spiritual communion, which is a most beneficial practice; by it the love of God will be greatly impressed on you.’” (Ecclesia Eucharis-tia, no. 34) You are also encouraged to watch our videotaped Daily Masses and Sunday Liturgies, available on our website at https://stbenedictonline.org/. Churches Open for Private Prayer You may come to St. Mary’s Church from 6am—1pm Mon-day—Friday or St. Bridget’s Church from 9am—5pm Monday—Friday for private prayer. Please be sure to allow at least 6 feet between you and others that may also be there for prayer.

This week, the Sanctuary Lamp at St. Mary’s will burn in loving memory of Paul Klavoon, requested by his wife, Barbara.

  • Prayer Resources Remember: this is not a time to panic, but rather to be cautious. This is not a time to be treated like a vacation, but rather, a retreat. During this time of social distancing, we’d like to offer these prayer resources to you, provided to us by the Diocese of Rochester.

A prayer for the sick especially those suffering from the coronavirus: Loving God, you sent your son Jesus Christ to heal the sick. We ask you to come to our aid in the midst ofthe corona-virus crisis that we too may experience your healing love. We ask you to heal those who are sick. Calm those who are living in fear. Be with those who have died and comfort their families. Inspire health professionals to aid them in their healing work. Guide national leaders to lead and make decisions with wisdom. Help us to always be aware of your presence as we place our trust in you. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer for an end to the coronavirus crisis: Loving God, we come before you in our time of need. We lay before you our concerns and fears over the spread of the coronavirus. We know that you are mightier than all our fears and that the name of Jesus is the name above all other names. We ask, in the name of Jesus, that you stop the spread of the coronavirus. In your mercy, heal those who are sick and lead those who have died into your heavenly kingdom. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer of Pope Francis: O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Ca-na of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sor-rows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrec-tion. Amen. Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe: Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas. We fly to you today as your beloved chil-dren. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana. Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those already afflict-ed, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliver-ance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts. We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our com-passionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

Sharing the Gospel Even though he had risen from the dead, two of Jesus’ friends had not seen him yet. These men were still sad and confused. Im-agine their surprise when Jesus walked with them, explained the Scriptures about the Savior, and then broke bread for a meal. They saw him alive! Prayer Jesus, when I am sad or confused, help me to remember that you are alive and with me al-ways.
