1st Period Tardy PolicyIf a student enters the building before 8:45 AM but is still late to class, the following

procedures will be followed:

1. The teacher will allow the student into the classroom and will request an excuse note from the student if applicable. If the student is unexcused the teacher will mark the student as unexcused tardy (X) to class in PowerSchool and their gradebook. If the student is excused the teacher will mark the student with an excused tardy (T) to class in PowerSchool and their gradebook

2. If the student has been tardy to class two (2) or more times, the teacher will contact the parent and issue a referral for the tardy at a level determined by the MHS tardy policy.

If a student enters the building after 8:45 AM, the following procedures will be followed:

1. The student will enter through the front office and receive a late pass from the attendance clerk. This step is vital to ensure that you will be counted present for the remainder of the day.

2. If the attendance clerk determines that the tardy is excused (doctor’s note, serious personal and/or family illness, etc.), she will mark the late pass as excused and send the student to class.

3. If the attendance clerk determines that the tardy is not excused, she will mark the late pass as unexcused.

4. If the student has been tardy to class two (2) or more times, the attendance clerk will contact the parent and issue a referral for the tardy at a level determined by the MHS tardy policy.
